    Blue Screen Of Death while booting from external hard drive


    Hi! I recently installed a 256gb SSD in my laptop and removed my 1TB hard drive from it. Since the hard drive has Operating systems installed. I try to boot from it to access the OS but during startup it freezes and 2seconds later it gives me a bsod. The error code was 0x7b I tried multiple ways to fix like turning on legacy os support and deleting my ssd operating system. But none of those work. Please HELP i have important data there.Hard Drive Specs:Toshiba MQ04ABF100 1TB or 931GB StorageLaptop Specs:HP 250 G7 Notebook PCWindows 104GB ramThanks :

    Laptop keeps booting to BIOS after blue screen of death

    I was loading a game on my computer, when I got a blue screen of death. My computer (laptop) keeps booting to the BIOS. The SSD is listed in the SATA-devices but it does not seem bootable.
    The hard drive is the first one selected in the boot order. I am running dual boot (Windows 10 - Ubuntu) on an MSI GE60 2QD. Is there anything I can do except reinstalling Windows?

    Hi John,

    We suggest that you try the troubleshooting steps below:

    • Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
    • Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.
    The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

    Blue screen of death when hard drive is plugged in

    so every time i boot my pc with my hard drive plugged it i get the blue screen of death with the message:

    Stop code SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED

    what failed: Ntfs.sys

    when i unplug my hard drive and just use my SSD (where windows 10 is actually installed) it boots fine. From looking online it looks like there's a driver on the HDD which is causing the failure but I can't see what it is or wipe it because my PC dies if
    i plug it in before boot and windows doesn't detect it at all if I plug it in post-boot.

    Is my hard drive corrupted or something? is there a way to wipe it?
