Windows 10: Blue Snowball iCE Microphone (older model) not working with the system

I bought a Blue Snowball microphone off my friend last week, I had confirmed that the device worked before the transaction.


It worked the first time I plugged it into my PC, but after I reboot my PC it stopped working.


The cable is not the issue: I tested the cable on another device. The microphone is not the issue: I tested it on another device. The USB (2.0) port is not the issue: I tested it with a memory pen and I got expected data transfer results.


I have uninstalled the drivers, removed the device, reboot the machine, log in and plug in the microphone and waited for the drivers to install from Windows Update. The microphone will still interface with the system: if I right click the volume icon, go to sounds, recording, click "Blue Snowball", clicked Properties, click listen, checked "Listen to this device" and I could hear the input come out through the speaker. Clearly, the hardware is not the issue here. I then went over to audacity, activated the Blue Snowball in the drop down list and clicked "Monitor" and there was no input. I clicked record and got an "Error opening this sound device" message.


Any advice on how to fix this, bar completely reinstalling the system which I am not prepared to do.

Ok my laptop is running Windows 10 and my Blue Snowball iCE isn't working, when I plug it in, the light will come on but my PC doesn't even recognize it it, it doesn't say anything's connected. what do I do?
