Windows 10: Bluescreen when trying to delete a certain folder

Hi all,


I have created an at least for me reproducable bluescreen every time I try to delete a specific folder documents/tmp/<domainname> which contains copies of fieles created by a certbot docker image. Those files have been created with the following command:


docker run -it --rm --name certbot --env AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID=<id> --env AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY=<key> -v "/c/Users/<username>/letsencrypt:/etc/letsencrypt" -v "/c/Users/<username>/letsencrypt:/var/lib/letsencrypt" certbot/dns-route53 certonly -d <domainname> -m <email> --agree-tos --server https://acme-v02.api.letsencrypt.org/directory


I have several tools installed which allow this command to run like docker for windows and git bash. But all in all files appeared at C:\Users\<username>\letsencrypt which were listed by windows explorer but unfortunately I could not use them for upload at my service on <domainname>. But this is not the problem.


Trying to resolve this problem I copied the file with Windows explorer to documents\tmp\<domainname>. And Still got the problem of not being able to open them.


I wanted to postpone my problem of certificate creation with certbot to another day and delete all files created so far. This went well by deleting the letsencrypt folder. But trying to delete documents/tmp/<domainname> caused a bluescreen to appear. After rebooting windows I tried it again and the bluescreen appeared again. This is the problem.


As the folder is created with Windows explorer and the files are copied with windows explorer I expect microsoft to want to investigate into this issue.

Trouble deleting a folder

Thanks for the suggestion but it says "delete folder failed for E:\....." for each folder I try.

Will I be forever stuck with these unnecessary folders? *Oh Well hwell:

Suggestion:

1. Run chkdsk x: /r to make sure that there's no HD corruption.
   x: is the drive containing the folder you want to delete.
2. Try to delete the folder again. If still does not work, go to step 3.
3. Download: Download - Linux Mint and create a bootable USB using: Rufus - Create bootable USB
4. Boot up with Linux Mint and try to delete the folder again.
   NOTE: Unlike WinPE. Linux does not have any Windows permission imposed to it so it is easier to delete.

 

Moved a folder from another drive and rename and it still shows as the old folder name in certain places

Hi Nick,

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check the behavior.

• Create a new folder name it as 'My Videos'.
• Now copy/cut and paste the contents which are in the folder "Videos", and delete the folder "Videos".
• Now check the behavior.

Please keep us updated with the status of the folder, to assist you further.
