Bluetooth Audio Devices microphone not being recognized

Hi, I just got a new office computer, it's a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 loaded with Windows 11 Pro. I have Apple Airpods Pro as well as Bose QC45. I have paired both devices and they both work for Audio. However, the microphone is not working on any of the two devices. The computer recognizes both devices as 'playback' but not 'recording'. It simply doesn't recognize that any of the two devices have microphones that can be used. I read through numerous threads on the topic and tried all of them to no avail: 1. uninstalled / reintalled the devices numerous times same thing happens2. looked at the dev

  2. Computer won't recognize headset microphone

This is what i see in device manager. Im not sure if the Speakers/Headphones (Realtek High Definition Audio) is the one your saying to disable, as that is what is default in playback devices in the sounds panel.

Setting Stereo Mix as the default recording device and disabling everything else still didnt get the mic working, even when the headset is plugged into the microphone only audio port or the mic + sound audio port.

  3. External microphone not showing in the Recording tab

My Windows 10 laptop is not recognizing any external microphones. I have two headsets: a Bluetooth one and one for an audio jack. Both headsets work correctly on other devices. When I connect the headsets to my computer, I can hear audio, but the microphones
    do not work.

Here are the steps I've taken so far:

    • Updated drivers (they were already up to date)
    • From Sound Settings, headsets do not appear as options for the input device
    • Ran the microphone troubleshooter - headsets do not appear as options
    • From Control Panel > Sound > Recording, headsets do not appear as options. I have selected the disabled and disconnected devices options.
    • From Microphone Privacy, all apps have access to the microphone.
That's everything I found online to fix this problem. Any suggestions?

BeoPlay S3 recognized in Bluetooth but not as an audio device

    Hi DavidHodapp!

I had the same problem, but solved it in the following way:

Go to the Windows Bluetooth device manager screen.

If the Beoplay S3 is already in your Bluetooth device list, remove it from the list of bluetooth devices.

Then, press the B&O Button on your Beoplay S3 for about 2 seconds.

The speaker will give an audio signal and the LED will flash blue.

Now, click "Add new bluetooth device" in the Bluetooth device manager screen.

When Beoplay S3 is shown as an option, add it.

It should now be recognized as an audio device.

The key is to put Beoplay S3 in "bluetooth install mode" by pressing the B&O button for about 2 seconds until it gives an acknowledge signal and the LED flashes blue.

Hope this works for you - it did work for me!

    Regards
