Using an Alienware Laptop running the latest Windows 11 version. Been having problems for a few months where I cannot get any bluetooth device to work on the laptop. They all work fine on my Windows 10 PC. I have uninstalled the devices, disconnected and re-connected the devices, removed them from device manager. Changed the hands free setting in the driver profile and numerous other items. I cannot get them to work.When I connect the device initially, I can get sound through the speaker. I know you made no mention about a microphone but I will mention this for your future reference.

Most computers except those made recently only support Bluetooth 4.x. This version does not have enough bandwidth to handle stereo speakers and a microphone at the same. To handle this they came up with a new mode where you pair a mono speaker with a microphone.

This is a summary of how this works out.

Speakers with no microphone
* Speaker: Headphones (Bluetooth Stereo)
* Microphone: n/a

Speakers with microphone
* Speaker: Headset (Bluetooth Hands-Free AG Audio)
* Microphone: Headset (Bluetooth Hands-Free AG Audio)

Normally I use a headset with Zoom. To simply things I have made the "Bluetooth Hands-Free AG Audio" the default for both my speakers and microphone in the Windows audio setup. That way my headset is the selected audio configuration when Zoom is launched. Also, in Zoom whatever is configured in Windows beforehand is also called "Same as system" in Zoom.

Making the Bluetooth speaker as the default causes Windows to automatically switch to it when the Bluetooth speaker connects with Windows. That is OK because that saves me the trouble of having to change to it manually. Note, when the Bluetooth speaker is not turned on the computer will just use its own speakers.

Wow, ok. I think I've fixed it by accident while fiddling around.

It appears to be the Realtek audio being the issue here. I don't use my onboard sound card as my headset is a USB headset only and my speakers are plugged into an ASUS sound card.

Step by step fix:

• I went into recording devices
• I enabled STEREO MIX (Realtek High Definition Audio)
• Then I set that Stereo Mix as the DEFAULT DEVICE (At this point it took over both input and output devices without my permission )
• Then set my Sennheiser headset as default recording and playback devices in their respective windows even though they both still said they were the default devices when they weren't

Headset microphone is currently functioning while in game now. I'll update the thread if it goes again. Should I completely disable Realtek audio??? Or will windows just force it to work again?

 

Bluetooth speaker paired but not listed as an audio device

Hi there, seeking assistance here. Suddenly my bluetooth speaker was not listed as an audio device in "Bluetooth & other devices" panel. It was working fine previously as audio playback for my windows 10 desktop. I have tried to reinstall the bluetooth drivers, unpair device and reconnect, on and off bluetooth but it is still not working.

Anyone experienced the same thing and any idea how to solve this? Thank you.
