Windows 10: bluetooth audio lost quality

I have been ripping my hair out and cursing at windows 10 for the past 2 days.


recently i was using my bose qc 35 headphone as normal on my pc though bluetooth and noticed that there is a slight loss in quality and generally lower volume i could now contol my pc volume with the butons on the headset while previously my pc had audio level separate to the headphone. I plugged them in with a cable to my pc and noticed that about 17/100 volume wired is the same as 50/100 though bluetooth. At first i though this was a firmwave update on the headphones hower when i connected to iphone is was the the lower volume and sound quailty as mentioned previously with the hands free controls. however on android the quality and volume was back to normal with no hands free and full volume. i think is is a driver issue but i would like to go back to full quailty volume and sepate pc and headphone volume controls. i cant seem to find help anywhere and is giving me the feeling like my pc is a mobile device as opose to a workstation.

Bluetooth Sound Quality is Terrible

lenovo support forums I've fixed my problem!

• Right click the speaker icon in the system tray by the clock
  
• • Click 'Playback devices'
• Change the default to the 'headphones'

the lenovo support link has screen shots, fyi.

"Some bluetooth devices have
2 modes: Regular listening device and a "handsfree" mode where you can use both the audio and microphone. If you somehow got switched to
handsfree mode, then the audio quality will be much worse since some of the
bluetooth bandwidth will be taken up for the microphone."

 

Lumia 820 Bluetooth audio quality

So I just got a upgraded to the Lumia 820 a few weeks ago. The more bluetooth devices I use for audio playback the more I notice the audio quality is terrible. I have a jambox and a bluetooth car stereo both have the same issue, It tends to give off an occasional
hiss or sqeal as it plays music. With the aux cable and headphones the audio quality is superb, ruleing out MP3 audio quality. I did the update (1249.00001) still has the issue, it never did it on my previous handset (Samsung focus Flash 7.5) and I have even
turned off all my connections except bluetooth to rule out interference. Anyone else have this issue? Is it my handset? or is it software? I would like to know befor my warranty becomes an issue. Thanks!

 

Poor audio quality after upgrading to Windows 10

• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Are you referring to sound quality from the computer/ speakers/ headphones?
• Have you installed all the pending updates and drivers updates after upgrading to Windows 10?
• What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue?

This issue might have occurred due to outdated/ corrupted audio drivers. Let us try the below troubleshooting steps if not yet tried and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to run the Audio troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Method 2: I suggest you to change the properties of Windows Audio services and check if it helps.

Steps:

• 
  Click Start, type
  Services.msc in the Start Search box.

  Scroll down the list of services, right-click

  Windows Audio and set its Startup Type to
  Automatic.
  

If the Windows Audio service does not start and you get the error
Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start, then make sure that the following services are started and their
Startup Type is set to Automatic.

Method 3: I recommend you to install all the pending updates on your device and check if it helps.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.
