Windows 10: Bluetooth Constant Disconnect Noise and Refresh in Device Manager

Custom built PC specs below:

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge Motherboard

Ryzen 7 3700x CPU

Gigabyte NVIDIA GEFORCE 1660 ti

Windows 10


Suddenly today, the Bluetooth stopped working. It now will continually make the disconnect noise. When I check the device manager, the display continually refreshes until I disable the Bluetooth adapter. So far I have tried: restarting, uninstalling drivers and rebooting, updating drivers, uninstalling drivers and looking up drivers from MSI and installing those. None of those have worked so far. The Bluetooth device does not show a yellow triangle icon indicating any errors and displays that the device is working properly in properties.

Device Manager Un-Hiding Hidden Devices


When you connect a plug and play device, Windows Plug and Play manager detects it, finds and installs the driver. Device Manager lists the device with a solid icon.

The driver is only removed when you uninstall the device, not simply by disconnecting the device. When the device is disconnected, its driver is still installed. By default, Device Manager only displays connected devices. When you show hidden devices, note the Bluetooth icon you see is semi-transparent (not opaque). That indicates a "non-present" device. Sometimes also called a "ghost" device. The driver is still installed but the device is not currently detected (i.e. not connected).

Device can be disconnected when

• Device unplugged (e.g. removing a USB device)
• Turning a device OFF
• Disabling the device in BIOS (then windows won't detect it) or
• Device failure

So

• Check BIOS as suggested
• Check board connections
• Can b/t be turned off by a switch? or keyboard combination?

Also possible the b/t h/w failed

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Pair the Bluetooth device to the system.
• Right click on the Speaker icon in the System tray and select
  Playback Devices.
• Select the device and click on the drop down list next to Set default button.
• Select the option to connect and disconnect from the device.

Does this sound like the noise when a USB device is plugged in and then disconnected?

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

Does the Hardware list in Device Manager refresh when you hear this sound?
