Bluetooth driver dissappeared from device manager after disabling it

    Device : Lenovo y50-70 i7-4710HQ, Gtx 860M, bluetooth was qualcomm atheros ar956x?

I was testing out my new wireless earphones and after turning the bluetooth off (from the bluetooth settings found in the notification panel on the bottom right of windows 10) it would not turn back on. After that i removed the paired earphones by opening bluetooth settings and choosing "remove device". When trying to pair the ear phones again by adding new bluetooth device i noticed that it said i had not turned on bluetooth. I opened device manager to see that my bluetooth device had a little yellow warning triangle. I tried to update my driver but i already had the latest, i tried to disable the device hoping to re-enabling would solve the problem. After disabling it, there was a screen refresh and my whole bluetooth category disappeared in the device manager!

    Things i've tried:
    1) Restarting all services that have the word "Bluetooth" in them
    2) Restarted Laptop
    3) Control panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Devices and Printers -> add a device, did not detect my bluetooth
    4)

    :)

  2. Bluetooth services and device manager

    Hi Tina,

Having an incompatible driver causes functionality issues like what you are experiencing right now with your Bluetooth. To resolve such issue, we suggest that you uninstall and reinstall your Bluetooth drivers manually instead of letting Windows search for
an updated driver automatically. Here are the steps to do that:

    • Visit your device manufacturer’s website to download the latest driver.
    • Right-click on the Start button, then select Device Manager.
    • Select Bluetooth, then the Bluetooth driver
      name.
    • Right-click on driver and then select Uninstall device >Delete the driver software for this device check box >
      Uninstall.
    • After uninstalling, right-click the driver that's having the issue, select
      Update driver
      > Browse my computer for driver software.
    • Select Browse > look for the drivers you've just downloaded >
      OK.
    • Select Next > follow the steps to install the driver >
      Close
      .
    • Restart your computer.

You can also refer to this
    article

Update us on the status of the issue.

  4. Bluetooth driver dissappeared from device manager after disabling it

    Device Manager Un-Hiding Hidden Devices

When you connect a plug and play device, Windows Plug and Play manager detects it, finds and installs the driver. Device Manager lists the device with a solid icon.

The driver is only removed when you uninstall the device, not simply by disconnecting the device. When the device is disconnected, its driver is still installed. By default, Device Manager only displays connected devices. When you show hidden devices, note the Bluetooth icon you see is semi-transparent (not opaque). That indicates a "non-present" device. Sometimes also called a "ghost" device. The driver is still installed but the device is not currently detected (i.e. not connected).

    Device can be disconnected when
    • Device unplugged (e.g. removing a USB device)
    • Turning a device OFF
    • Disabling the device in BIOS (then windows won't detect it) or
    • Device failure

    So
    • Check BIOS as suggested
    • Check board connections
    • Can b/t be turned off by a switch? or keyboard combination?
Also possible the b/t h/w failed
