Windows 10: Bluetooth gets disabled whenever their is a pending windows update

bluetooth gets disabled periodically, headphones, mice, keyboard, etc. Always, it happens when there is a pending windows update. When I do the update, bluetooth works again.

Hi,

I have an Asus VivoBook with windows 10 home. I am facing this issue with my Bluetooth driver where it is disabled whenever their is a pending windows update.

So basically if I have a windows update pending I will see no option for Bluetooth in the notifications menu and no toggle to turn it off or on in settings. Then I have to update and restart my system and it comes back again.

In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
• What is the make and model of the PC?
• What is the KB number of the Update that installed prior to this issue? (Press
  Windows +I key to open Settings > Click on
  Updates & Security > select Windows Updates from the left pane > Click on
  View update history > KB number beside the update).
• What happens when you connect a Bluetooth device?

Step 1: Run Bluetooth troubleshooter

Select the
Start button, and then select Settings>Update & Security
> Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > then from the list select Bluetooth
> Run the troubleshooter.



Step 2: Bluetooth Services.

Check the Bluetooth service, press
Windows + R key > type services.msc and click
OK > look for the below services > Double click on each services > change
Startup type to Automatic for each and
Start the service.

• Bluetooth Support Service
• Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service
• Bluetooth User Support Service

Step 3: Remove and reinstall the driver.

We would recommend you to
create a restore point before you proceed with the steps, refer the article to
Create a system restore point.

1. Press Windows + X key
   and select Device Manager from the context menu.
2. Spot and expand the Bluetooth.
3. Right click on the driver and select
   “Uninstall”
4. Check the box beside “Delete the driver software for this device”
5. Then download and install the latest version of the driver again from Manufacturer website

No bluetooth after system restore

Thank you for your reply.

I mean I have used a Windows system restore point. I tried restoring bluetooth with commands in CMD (sfc/scannow; DISM /Online.....) and by updating and uninstalling devices in the device manager. Update did not work. Uninstalling bluetooth devices made Bluetooth disappear out of the hidden devices list.
All my steps I took worked but did not change anything in my bluetooth device list.

I am using the bluetooth of my mainboard. MSI Z370M Gaming Pro AC
My guess would be, that disabling the bluetooth network adapter before using a system restore point, disabled Bluetooth after using the system restore point.

In the device manager I get this message in the USB Device list for a unknown USB Device:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
A request for the USB device descriptor failed.
