Windows 10: Bluetooth headphone Audio is not playing through some apps! Audio only works on groove...

My Bluetooth headphones worked fine until I upgraded to 22H2 recently. When I test the audio in settings app, it doesn't play any sounds, but it works in groove music and YouTube via MS edge WebView content. The audio doesn't work in any other apps like pot player, vlc, even games like horizon 5, Elden ring etc... weird thing is if I keep groove music in background playing a song and play a game simultaneously, surprisingly the audio on the game works!! Also, the windows sound test which hasn't worked before, now works when groove music/edge is playing the audio.The solutions I tried:disab

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 show up as Unspecified/non-audio device upon initial connection. Choppy distorted and intermittent audio

When connecting headphones to Windows 10 the first time, they are not added as an audio device and appear under Other Devices. Headphones do not appear as an option in the Sound control panel. Going into Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers
and enabling all Bluetooth Services in the Properties of the Headphones in the Unspecified section makes them appear as an audio device.

Audio played through headphones (Chrome, Groove, iTunes) is choppy, intermittent, and distorted. There are popping or crackling sounds when audio is playing and when it isn't. Audio plays perfectly fine when connected to Pixel phone or Mac. No such issues on
those devices.

Steps take to resolve:

Set as default device

Disabled all background services

Rebooted / reset headphones

Cleared bluetooth device list from headphones

Removed headphones from bluetooth list of all devices

Unpaired and re-paired, only to PC

Restarted PC

Updated PC

Updated headphones

Ran Windows control panel troubleshooters

Glad to know that the Bluetooth issue is resolved.

Try the below methods to troubleshoot the issue on the headphones and check if this helps.

Before trying the below methods, I suggest you to try connecting the headphones to a different port or check the headphones on a different computer and check if you are able to hear the audio from the headphone.

Method 1:
Setting The Headphones As Default Playback Device.

1. Select on the Start button > Type Sound in the search box > Select
   Sound from the list of results.
2. Go to Playback tab > Select your headphones > Then click on
   Set Default.
3. Restart the computer once and check if this helps.

Method 2:
Updating The Audio Drivers.

Follow the steps mentioned in Update drivers in Windows 10
and update your Sound drivers and check if you are able to hear the audio from the headphones.

Restart the computer once after updating the sound drivers.

Bluetooth Audio

Hi, happens on any song - here is how to replicate it.

• Turn Bluetooth on and connect to Bluetooth Speaker.
• Play an album or track and keep playing.
• With the track playing turn off Bluetooth.
• Plug in headphones.
• Continue song by pressing play (as it stopped when Bluetooth was turned off)

It's a if the audio no longer has bass or is converting down to a much lower bit rate. If I then skip to another track then all returns as normal (I thought I had broken my headphones when it first happened - not funny when you have £120 Bose headphones....
