Windows 10: Bluetooth issue running Windows 10

Hi all,


I've a frustrating Bluetooth issue, which hopefully one of the gurus can assist with. My tech knowledge is average and I've now come to a conclusion as to the problem, after many hours of trying to reconcile the issues by a process of deduction.


Issue

PC Specialist unit with many bells and whistles. Its running 64bit Windows 10 Home. It came with Bluetooth built in and until recently I had been using a trial version of BlueSoleil bluetooth software. The PC system and BT headphones worked flawlessly and allowed movement of around 10m around the house without interference or cutouts. However, I recently moved house to a property with solid walls and a month later set up the home PC. Immediately I found that the BT headphones only worked if my head was 0.25m away from the PC. Any further and it would start to cut out until at over 1m the audio would cutout altogether.


Testing

Initially I thought it was interference from a Powerline wifi adapter in close proximity, so tried isolating that powerline adapter, then others around the house. Nothing cured it. Next I tried my phone on the PC and then using trying to connect to the BT from my phone. This worked perfectly, so I now knew that it was not interference from wifi. I wondered whether it was the PCs built in bluetooth card that was failing, so brought a BT dongle. However, much to my annoyance, although I get a Bluetooth Radio for this CSR dongle, my computer continues to transmit what I believe to be a very weak BT signal, which my headset will only accept. It only recognises BT if my headset is again up close to the system and doesn't appear to use the CSR BT dongle. The BT dongle should be plug and play but as I couldn't get the BT dongle to appear to transmit a signal that the headphones recognised, I tried downloading the CSR BT dongles driver manually. Unfortunately, when this runs, it comes up with a number of yellow triangles warning of issues. I'm thinking that this may be because it can install properly due to the older system BT being active?


Despite trying to isolate via 'disable' option under Device Manager at Network Adapters and under the Bluetooth option also in Device Manager, I can not seem to get the 2 year old built in Bluetooth Card to unlatch and allow the dongle to be the primary transmitter.


Alternatively, could it be that the built in card is actually working as it should and the BlueSoleil software that has expired, is now corrupting the signal? I don't want to pay for the BlueSoleil software if this isn't the issue. I would pay for the software if this was the fix but if this was the case, I'd be rather annoyed that the developer has made my BT stop working and left me guessing, rather than actually flagging up the issue, therefore I may be minded to pay (free would be better) for another developers software but would want to ensure that this fixed the problem rather than more money wasted.


I look forward to receiving your recommendations and can happily send screenshots, if this forum allows that as a medium to help assist diagnostics?

Bluetooth in windows 10

My computer specs are as listed in the profile. I think all of you guys are correct. I don't have built-in Bluetooth in mobo.

I contacted skull candy headphones and thy have told me if I do not have built-in Bluetooth, I would need a dongle which supports at least a2dp. I do not know what the heck that means. I have a feeling I would need more than a cheap dongle.

Anyone suggest some a2dp adapters. I searched but don't know what a2dp is so couldn't make a decision

 

Bluetooth in windows 10

So I bought a new Bluetooth headphones the skull candy uproar since my old one isn't working. It came with only the headset and usb charging cable. The problem is I can't seem to pair it to my pc. I have windows 10 by the way. There is no Bluetooth on off button in windows settings. I went to device manager but there us no icon for Bluetooth. I did everything I knew but none of it worked.I can post pictures if anyone needs.An alternative might be a Bluetooth dongle but I m not sure I'd it would work plus I paid $50 so don't wanna spend more

I looked up on Internet and many people seem to have issues with windows 10 and Bluetooth. I thought of asking here knowing my UK friends are smart.

Anyone have any idea of how to get Bluetooth to work on my pc.

PS don't curse windows 10. I already know it's a mess and not a very good os.

Edit: This is a dongle with old BT version I see now, but I'm sure you can find a Asus BT4.0 version.

@aasim1111 I have this one, it doesn't show that it supports A2DP in the specs but I think it'll work, otherwise send a mail to Asus and ask.
