  2. Bluetooth keyboard only works when other bluetooth device is actively being used

I have recently got a new bluetooth keyboard which I am trying to connect to my pc. The keyboard definetely works fine, since I have no problems using it on other devices like laptops, phones, etc.

When I connect my keyboard to my PC, it shows up in the bluetooth settings as a keyboard and everything seems to be connected. The keyboard also shows that it is connected. However, when I type on it nothing is happening. I then connect my bluetooth headphones, which also work without problems. The curious thing is, that when I start to play music, or use my headphones in any other way actively, suddenly all the keyboard damed up inputs are executed at once and while playing music, or after I have started to use my headphones (or any other bluetooth device), my keyboard is working fine and I can type etc. My keyboard also continues to work after I have paused the music for a few seconds until I can't type again. It works again when I start to actively use my headphones again.

It seems to me, like the keyboard inputs are only received when another bluetooth device is actively using the bluetooth connection, which is kind of weird. I have already tried all the steps I found online and in various threads, including but not limited to:

I don't think the problem lies with my wifi/bluetooth adapter that I have built into my pc, since my headphones and other devices work fine. And the keyboard should also not be the problem since it works fine with all other devices I tried connecting it to.

I would greatly appreciate any help!

  3. Built in keyboard not working

I recently purchased an ASUS ROG GL553VD Notebook Computer and a few weeks ago the keyboard stopped working. After a few restarts it worked again, but today the problem came back, and was not fixed by any amount of restarting. Several people on past posts said to reinstall they Keyboard driver, but there was no Keyboard section in the Device Manager. I am currently resetting the laptop to factory settings to see if that fixes the issue. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My keyboard/ Bluetooth mouse is not working properly.

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply.

Given the persistence of the problem even after extensive troubleshooting and the inability to proceed with Safe Mode due to the keyboard not working, it seems we're dealing with a more complex issue than initially thought. Here are some additional steps and considerations:

Since the built-in keyboard is not responding correctly and prevents you from using Safe Mode, an external USB keyboard and mouse could be a critical workaround. This step is essential to determine if the problem is with the laptop's hardware (specifically the keyboard and possibly the Bluetooth module) or if it's a deeper software issue.

    • Use an external USB keyboard and mouse: Connect them to your laptop. If they work correctly, this strongly suggests the problem lies with the laptop's built-in keyboard and/or Bluetooth connectivity, not with the operating system or software in general.
Another diagnostic step is to check the keyboard functionality outside the Windows environment, such as in the BIOS/UEFI settings.

    • Access the BIOS/UEFI settings: Restart your laptop and press the key required to enter BIOS/UEFI settings (common keys include F2, F10, Del, and Esc). If the keyboard works in these settings, the issue is likely within Windows. If the keyboard does not work even in the BIOS/UEFI, this points to a hardware problem.
If you have access to the BIOS/UEFI, see if there's an option to run a hardware diagnostic. Many laptops include a built-in diagnostic tool that can be accessed during startup.

Given the troubleshooting steps you've already attempted without success, and if the external keyboard/mouse and BIOS/UEFI checks suggest a hardware issue, it might be time to consider professional repair. If your laptop is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer's customer support for assistance. If it's out of warranty, a reputable computer repair service can diagnose and fix the problem, though they will likely charge for their services.

If professional repair is not an immediate option, using an external USB keyboard and mouse could serve as a temporary workaround, allowing you to continue using the laptop.

Given the uncertainty about the laptop's functionality, ensure you back up any important data to an external hard drive, cloud storage, or another safe location to prevent data loss.

Hardware issues, especially when affecting integral components like the keyboard and Bluetooth connectivity, can be challenging to resolve without professional help. The steps outlined above should help narrow down the problem and potentially provide a temporary solution until a more permanent fix is possible.
