Windows 10: Bluetooth not working correctly after 1803

Seems like something broke the AVCRP transport driver or some other error is not letting me control the basic functions on any of my BT headphones.

I can connect, and adjust the volume. However play/pause stop next track/previous track etc no longer function after 1803. They were all working just fine before 1803.

Bluetooth Audio is Bugged in 1803


Found a bug with Bluetooth audio with 1803. I can reproduce on 4 computers with clean install or upgrade. Same bug.
So this PC has a Broadcom USB Bluetooth 4.0 adapter. I have a pair of Creative Bluetooth speaker that connects to it. I only use this as a backup speaker. My Denon AVR uses WASAPI when watching moves in Atmos, DTS, etc.

After a clean or upgrade install of 1803, the Bluetooth audio slider does not change volume. It makes a beep when moving the slider. Like beeps for every step. If you turn the slider all the way down, the volume does mute. When you turn it up one step, the speakers are full blast. They are always playing a full blast no matter where the slider is. And after playing with the slider for a minute, Bluetooth disconnects. I tried a different BT adapter on this PC. It has the same behavior. It's a multi-boot PC and this adapter works fine in Win7, Win8.1 and Win10 1703. Thanks MS!

This occurs on 2 other PC too. One is a Dell 1820 with an Intel network/BT adapter.

Who else sees this bug?

Who else noticed this? It's not a driver problem. They changed a lot of sound things in 1803.

As an initial troubleshooting, I suggest that you use the Bluetooth troubleshooter to try to fix Bluetooth problems. Please follow the steps below:

• Press the Start button > type Troubleshooting, then press
  Enter.
• Under Find and fix other problems, select Bluetooth then click
  Run the troubleshooter.

If the issue still persists, let's try to update your Bluetooth drivers.

• Click Start and type "Device Manager"
• In Device Manager locate the Bluetooth adapter. Select
  Uninstall.
• Restart your PC and Windows will automatically install the driver after you logged in.

Can't get Bluetooth working...

The only thing i can think of to fix if it isnt recognised by linux is the following:

Firstly you have to find out what chipset your bluetooth dongle uses.
Secondly i think your going to have to basically compile your own kernel and include the module for the chipset that your bluetooth dongle uses.
Thirdly depending on if you add it to the kernel or as like built in you will have to add the name of the module to a config file which is used when you boot linux.

If the kernel doesnt have support for your bluetooth dongle then you can either try and find a different copy of the kernel which does or try and find the driver for it.

To recompile your own kernel however requires a whole guide itself , plus different linux distro's will have different kernels with different options and slightly different config files.

Only thing i can suggest is going to www.gentoo.org and reading through their handbook, its basically step by step setting up linux manually, in the handbook there is a page or two on recompiling your kernel for your particular configuration.
