Bluetooth not working, drivers gone after 'troubleshoot'

Hi,I tried playing a game today but my blue tooth headphones would not work. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, and even forgetting the device entirely, but that would not work either. It says to turn on bluetooth but there just isn't something i'm seeing for that.I then went to device manager and restarted didn't work which then turned into uninstalling the drivers to reinstall, but now they're not there at all ;/ i'm fully up to date! i think this happened after i updated the last time i booted my pc because i remember being able to use bluetooth pretty well then.

    :)

Bluetooth is not working — troubleshoot claims I don't even have it

I have done all the following steps:

    - installed bluetooth driver from manufacturer
    - hit windows update
    - updated / uninstalled bluetooth items listed in Device Manager and restarted the PC
    - updated / uninstalled USB drivers listed in Device Manager and restarted the PC (USB drivers automatically came back but not bluetooth)
    - turned on and restarted all bluetooth support in services.msc
    - conducted bluetooth troubleshooting
    - conducted hardware troubleshooting

My Bluetooth Driver is just gone.

Thank you very much for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm more than happy to assist you.

Would you mind giving these steps a try and then informing me of the outcome?

Check if Bluetooth is Enabled in BIOS/UEFI

Sometimes, Bluetooth can be disabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings. To check this:

    • Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, DEL, or ESC during startup).
    • Look for Bluetooth settings and ensure it is enabled.
    • Save changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI.
Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager

Your Bluetooth driver might be hidden in Device Manager:

    • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
    • Click on View and select Show hidden devices.
    • Expand the Bluetooth section and see if your Bluetooth device appears. If it does, right-click and select Enable device.
    Run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter

Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help identify and fix Bluetooth issues:

    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
    • Select Bluetooth and click Run the troubleshooter.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
    Scan for Hardware Changes

If the driver does not automatically reinstall:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Click on Action and select Scan for hardware changes. This should prompt Windows to detect and reinstall the Bluetooth driver.

    Check Windows Services

Ensure that the necessary Bluetooth services are running:

    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    • Locate Bluetooth Support Service, Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service, and Bluetooth User Support Service.
    • Ensure these services are running. If not, right-click each service, select Start, and set the Startup type to Automatic.
    Reset Windows Services

Sometimes, resetting Windows services can help:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Right-click on the Bluetooth adapter and select Uninstall device.
    • Restart your computer and let Windows reinstall the driver automatically.
    Check for Windows Updates

Ensure your Windows 10 is up to date:

    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be worth considering a system restore to a point when Bluetooth was working correctly, we can try it if all the steps above aren't working.

Please feel free to reach out if you require any additional assistance. I'm here to help!
