Windows 10: Bluetooth on/off button for the taskbar

I'm required to make Bluetooth undiscoverable AND turn it off when I'm not using it. Assuming there's a reason to turn it off when it's not discoverable, is there a way to get a bluetooth on/off button on the desktop? Easy access, one click.

Assuming that you have a Bluetooth card, run these checks -

Do you have a Bluetooth entry in Settings, Devices?



If not then Windows does not think you have a Bluetooth card. Check Device manager for a Bluetooth group.

1. If neither of these is there then you do not have a Bluetooth card or you have disabled Bluetooth in the BIOS. You should check your BIOS for a relevant entry but BIOSes vary so I cannot suggest where such a setting might be. You could seek advice from your computer maker or their user forum.
2. If one is there but not the other then you might be able to get it working correctly by reinstalling the driver from your Computer / Bluetooth card maker's website.

You can customise the items shown in Action center but Bluetooth, if it is enabled, is generally put there by default. As explained above, you can customise what is shown by playing around with Settings, System, Notifications. You can add more entries or you can drag off existing entries or you can drag existing entries around to get them in the layout you prefer.

Bluetooth on off toggle button is missing from taskbar

* Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter

Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot . Under Find and fix other problems, select Bluetooth, and then select Run the troubleshooter and follow the instructions.

* Check drivers to make sure you have the latest ones

An outdated or incompatible driver is one of the most common causes of Bluetooth connection problems.

If you recently upgraded to Windows 10 or installed Windows 10 updates, the current driver may have been designed for an earlier version of Windows. To automatically check for driver updates:

1. In the search box on the taskbar, search for Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.

2. In Device Manager, select Bluetooth, and then select the Bluetooth adapter name, which may include the word “radio.”

3. Press and hold (or right-click) the Bluetooth adapter, and then select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software. Follow the steps, then select Close.

4. After installing the updated driver, select the Start button, select Power > Restart if you're prompted to restart, and then check whether that fixes the connection issue.

If Windows can’t find a new Bluetooth driver, visit the PC manufacturer’s website and download the latest Bluetooth driver from there.

To manually install the Bluetooth driver:

Go to your PC manufacturer's website and download the latest driver. Then do one of the following:

* If you downloaded an executable (.exe) file, just double-click the file to run it and install the drivers. That should be all you need to do.

* If you downloaded individual files, and at least one file has an .inf file name extension and another has a .sys extension, do the following:

1. In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.

2. In Device Manager, select Bluetooth > the Bluetooth adapter name. (If it’s not listed there, check in Other devices.)

3. Press and hold (or right-click) the network adapter, and then select Update driver > Browse my computer for driver software.

4. Select Browse, select the location where the driver files are stored, and then select OK.

5. Select Next, and follow the steps to install the driver. When the installation is finished, select Close.

6. After you've updated the driver, select the Start button, select Power > Restart if you're prompted to restart, and check whether that fixes the connection issue.

Problem with a combine taskbar icons.

In Windows 10, you can personalize the settings of your taskbar. If there are multiple applications opened, same applications will be combined under one taskbar button. If you want to change this setting, we suggest that you follow the steps listed below:

• Press the Start button.
• Click on the Settings app.
• Select Personalization.
• At the left side of your window, click on Taskbar.
• Under Combine taskbar buttons, choose Never.
