Bluetooth speaker is recognised as Headphones and the sound quality is bad.

Browsed the Internet for quite a while but couldn't find any fixes on this issue...apparently it is because the Bluetooth speaker has a mic so it is identified as "Handsfree Headphones"... I have done some basic methods and troubleshooting like reinstalling drivers or removing the Bluetooth speaker, still doesn't work. Please help.*Speaker is "Tribit XSound go"

    :)

Windows Bluetooth headphones bad sound quality

    Notes:

I am using Bang & Olufsen bluetooth earbuds model Beoplay EX. When connected to Windows 11 the sound quality is absolutely atrocious.

    Things I have tried:

    1. disconnecting and reconnecting the bluetooth earbuds (forget and re-establish connection) - result: did not fix.
    2. looked into sound settings - unable to select between hands-free and stereo therefore does not affect sound quality, still awful
    3. use another device as microphone: does nothing

It seems as if Windows is using the driver for the hands-free mode rather than the headphone mode by default and there is not a way to change this thus resulting in awful sound quality thus making bluetooth headphones unusable.

    Bluetooth not recognising headphones

Bluetooth on my PC recognises, pairs with and works with an ear piece headphone/mic.
Bluetooth on my Smartphone recognises, pairs with and works with an Ausdom headphone.
    Therefore all hardware works.

However, PC Bluetooth will not recognise, let alone pair with, Ausdom headphone.

I have tried re-boots, turning Bluetooth on/off, uninstalling, re-loading drivers, etc. I have run out of ideas.

    Any suggestions please?

Windows Bluetooth headphones bad sound quality

    Hello, Nate Maas

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

If you want to improve the sound quality of the Bluetooth hands-free mode, there are several possible workarounds, each with their own pros and cons. You can choose the method that suits your needs and preferences.

    • Disable the Bluetooth hands-free mode. This way, Windows won't switch to the hands-free mode when you use the microphone, maintaining high-quality stereo mode. The downside is that you won't be able to use the microphone of your Bluetooth headphones, and you will need to use a separate microphone device, such as the built-in microphone of your computer or an external microphone.

    • Adjust the audio settings. In the sound settings of Windows, you can find the playback and recording options of your Bluetooth headphones, right-click and select properties. In the advanced tab, you can adjust the default format of your Bluetooth headphones, choosing a higher sampling rate and bit depth, such as 16-bit, 48000 Hz, or 24-bit, 96000 Hz. This can improve the sound quality and bit rate of your Bluetooth headphones, making them sound better. The downside is that you may encounter some latency or compatibility issues, and you need to test if your Bluetooth headphones work correctly.
    • Change the audio device. You can use wireless headphones with a dongle. This will bypass the Bluetooth connection and the Hands-Free Telephony service, and provide you with high sound quality and low latency. However, this also means that you will need to buy new headphones and have a USB port available on your computer.
