Bonkers - but copy from different machine improves performance

    Hi folks

can't understand this -- I had sluggish W10 performance on AMD Operon X4321 X4 quad processor system installed from scratch (latest non Insider build). Installed not to SSD but HDD (6 Gb/s sata -- OK not as good as SSD but still should have been no slouch).

Deleted install and copied over same W10 install copied from an older SONY VAIO laptop( Intel MOBO with an old PENTIUM IV CPU) via Macrium. Had to apply change as also moving non GPT (MBR) OS to UEFI system -- no probs if you follow instructions on google.

After restoring image via macrium and waiting for "Getting Devices Ready" messages finished - system was lightning fast - even on non SSD compared with my original install,!!!

Will move system to SSD tomorrow -- but thanks Macrium -- not sure why the whole system seems so much faster = old system was on exactly the same HDD (non SSD BTW).

"The wonders of Windows! " !! always amazed at what can happen.

    Cheers
    jimbo

    :)
