    boot failure new everything wd ssd win10 pro


    installed three times formatted ssd each time to be sure it was clean. Each time it installs fine restarts does updates then when all done it wont boot, no asus screen. I've tried a different ssd and it boots perfect. the wdssd also works on other computers. Maybe I need to update bios??

    Any idea?

    How to Clone 'dual boot' Win7/Win10 HDD to new SSD

    Hi Jackos,

    Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    I suggest you to create a system image of Win7/Win10 and apply it to SSD.

    To create system image on Windows 10 follow the below steps.

    • Type File history in the search area on the taskbar and select File history.
    • Click on System image backup on the left bottom corner of the Window file history Window.
    • Click on Create System Image on the left panel of the System Image backup windows.
    • Select the driver, where you want to create system Image.
    • Follow on screen instruction.

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

    Confusing Disk Boot Failure

    Well, Brand new Harddrive the western digital se16 caviar 640. Had a clean install, and while installing drivers and programs after a couple restarts I am receiving disk boot failure. Not the first restart or the second. Each time that it has given me the failure was after installing updates. I've system restored to before installing the updates and it works fine. It's a large list of around 38 or so updates. Granted may be a fluke but anyone heard of this?
