  1. Boot into bios on gateway sx2110g?

This gateway pc from 2012 isn’t booting to bios, it does boot to windows 8 but I need to boot from a usb. I tried many keys relating to gateway bios, like F2, delete, F1, ctrl alt esc all of those. Sometimes I see a bios information screen but then it instantly boots to windows 8.

    Slow BIOS boot

    Dear Taiga17x,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thank you for reaching out to us and providing detailed information about the issue you're experiencing with your PC's boot-up time. It sounds like you've taken some proactive steps to troubleshoot the problem, and I'm here to assist you further in resolving this matter.

Based on the description you've provided, the increase in boot-up time following the overclocking attempts with MSI Afterburner is indeed concerning. It's possible that the changes made during the overclocking process may have inadvertently affected the system's stability or BIOS settings, leading to the observed delay during boot-up.

The only thing worth checking on the Windows side for long boot times is the boot self-startup items, which you can disable in the task manager to optimize boot speed. The other factors focus on the computer hardware and BIOS settings, here are some additional steps you can take to address this issue:

Disclaimer: If you are going to modify BIOS Settings (such as resetting CMOS and resetting the BIOS button), please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.

    1. BIOS Configuration Check: Ensure that all BIOS settings are optimized for stability and performance. You mentioned restoring BIOS settings to optimized defaults, which is a good first step.

If your BIOS didn’t save the RAM timings after training, it could result in a slow boot time. There’s a BIOS setting named “Memory Context Restore” that could potentially cause this issue if it’s set before the first boot after adding new RAM. A CMOS reset should remove this option if it’s set.
    2. BIOS Update: Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your motherboard. Manufacturers often release updates to improve system compatibility, stability, and performance. However, exercise caution and follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully when performing a BIOS update.
    3. Boot Sequence Optimization: Review the boot sequence configuration in the BIOS settings to ensure that the system is prioritizing the correct boot devices. Sometimes, incorrect boot device prioritization can lead to longer boot-up times.
If after performing these steps you're still experiencing prolonged boot-up times, it may be worthwhile to consider seeking assistance from a professional technician or contacting MSI support for further guidance, especially considering the overclocking aspect.

I hope these suggestions help in resolving the issue you're facing. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or require additional assistance. I'm here to help!
