Boot Manager menu opens every time I restart my Dell Laptop

Whenever I click on the restart button before the laptop switches off to restart, this menu opens up, so I need to click on Exit, then the system shuts, and I need to switch it on manually. A while ago, I had an issue with my boot sequence, so I followed this video to fix it, but since then, anytime I restart my laptop, this menu pops up. Do you know why?

    :)

    Cannot open Boot Menu

Bree’s suggestions allowed me to boot from a USB drive. Here’s a brief summary:
Secure Boot must be off. Default setting on my computer was Secure Boot on.
If necessary turn Secure Boot off as follows:
Press F12 repeatedly when starting computer until a screen with blue yellow, and white letters appears.
Go to Change Boot Mode Settings, and press enter. Secure boot is off.

Go through two step to indicate you really want to make the change and press enter.
    Shut down computer.
Put boot flash drive in computer usb port.
    Restart computer, repeatedly pressing F12.

My image had a Dell logo on the right side. Select UEFI: bios and press enter.

The computer will boot to the USB drive.

Dalchina: It's late, and I'll look into the slow startup issue tomorrow

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop

These 7 steps allowed me to disable my touchpad (Dell laptop, Windows 10):

    1. Win Start button
    2. Type in "device manager"
    3. Select Device Manager to open it
    4. Click down arrow to left of "Mice and other..." to expand
    5. Right click Dell Touchpad
    6. Disable device
    7. Yes

    No startup boot menu

    Hello Kimoefat,

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.

As an initial recommendation, I would suggest you to access the System configuration utility and check if the Operating System installation path for Ubuntu exists. To do so, follow the below steps.

    • Type msconfig in the search bar and select System Configuration from the search results.
    • Select the boot tab in the System configuration console to check if the installation path for Ubuntu exists.
If it exists, next logical step is to check if the boot menu time out has been set to 0, which results in Boot menu not showing up.

The boot menu time-out determines how long the boot menu is displayed before the default boot entry is loaded. It is calibrated in seconds. To change the boot menu time-out, use the Bootcfg
/timeout switch. Valid values are from 0 through 999. You cannot use Bootcfg to set an indefinite time-out.

You can run the following Run command line to set the boot menu time-out accordingly. To do so, follow the below steps.

    • Press Windows key + X, select
Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt

    • Type in the following command: bootcfg /timeout 10

      timeout 10
will set the time frame to 10 seconds
However, if the Boot path for Ubuntu does not exist in the boot menu of System Configuration utility, I would suggest you to check if the Ubuntu is overridden by the Windows installation or if the Ubuntu installation files are corrupted.

Hope the above information is helpful. If you need further information, feel free to write to us and we would be happy to help you.

    Thank You.
