Might try cleaning out the contents of this folder... have to piddle around a little in there.
Leave the log folder but clear it contents.
    "C:\Windows\System32\WDI"

    Everything rebuilds itself automatically.

Somewhere I read this can speed up your shutdown.. I was having a 15 second hang with a blackscreen right before the moment of shutdown.. this changed it to 10 sec. Simple. Seems harmless.

    Hi,

Thanks very much for the help - this seems to have worked (just tried in once).

I have a HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea, I have a 500GB SSD with Windows 10 Pro. My boot time to date is around 2 minutes. When I had Window 8.1, 8 and 7 my boot time was 25 - 30 seconds. I can't figure out what the problem is but when I disable the graphics card I get to the lock screen in under 30 seconds but the graphics are terrible - 720p and stretched. I did upgrade my lcd screen to 1080p but boot time was below 30 seconds when I did that. It must be a driver problem... I get past the Windows icon in under 10 seconds and the rest of the time is spent just before the lock screen.

    Graphics :
    AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series
    Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000

When you installed Windows, did you leave all the drives plugged in. Sometimes Windows installer can install parts of the OS on to secondary drives (not sure why but it can).

I would recommend if you have the time to consider backing up your files and formatting after having removed all but the OS drive. Also remove all peripherals apart from mouse and keyboard.

Boot Time with SSD and Win 10 is 90 sec.

I did a new install without keeping any programs or files. I had all external drives removed but had a USB mouse. I did notice some of my old folders (non windows) was still there and it was a slow boot. Do you think if I formatted the disk and did an new install it would improve boot time? Win 8 and 8.1 was quick with no format

Make sure you turn off Fast start-up( Power Options) and disable Secure boot(in BIOS) before installation as well.

How will a new format speed my machine up?

If you're doing a clean install, you don't have to reformat anything yourself - just select Custom Installation during the clean install and delete all of the partitions on your target disk - WIndows will then create and format the partitions it needs. (See Steps 10 and onward, here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1...n-install.html )

Boot Time with SSD and Win 10 is 90 sec.

I think I put an almost clean install on my machine - i selected new install without keeping any files or apps. I didn't go into custom installation and delete all partitions there though. Would it make much of a difference ?

I got this by loading boot time into Event Viewer. I don't exactly know how it works or how can I improve my boot time. Is there anything I can do/should know
I ran Winsat. What do you make of the results ? can i improve them

Not likely to make a difference in boot time. I just know that there are certain people (including some forum members) that an extra recovery partition or two leftover would drive crazy and they would insist on recovering the precious 350-500 MB for their 500GB - 1 TB disk's usage - LOL*Smile

I have the same problem with boot, the boot time was 110 second.
Windows 10 have the wrong grapich drivers and this is the problem.

You should always get hardware drivers direct from the manufacturer. No telling what might have been done to them otherwise or they might not be what they appear to be.

Boot Time with SSD and Win 10 is 90 sec.

Drivers from the manufacturer have problems, because of them win 10 boot 110 seconds,
with this drivers win 10 boots 5 seconds.
I am aware of the fact that everything can be hidden behind the driver but plenty of people have exactly the same problem and these drivers solve this problem without damage to the computer.
till the manufacturer does not issue a patch for this problem it remains to me only use these drivers.

My boot time is about 57 seconds, I have applied the Boot time XML script.
Not sure how to interpret it but it does appear that the BootPNPInitDuration 41611issue below is the culprit. What can be done?
    Thanks,
