Windows 10: Boot trouble

Hi a friend of mine fell for the Microsoft scam and let them in his computer...he caught on but it was too late by then. He started getting virus messages and rather than getting help just kept shutting down and restarting to clear the message until one day the computer could no longer boot up at all. It's a Toshiba satellite and when I tried the recovery disk it goes to recovery screen but no matter what option I try it keeps giving me the following message (the line numbers change depending on the option but the message is the same)"ricadeployer.exe application error instructions @ 0x24c7cc09 referenced memory @ 0x00000018 the memory could not be read" I also tried booting a virus remover from a sub drive and it couldnt work either. I tried to access the secret recovery partition that toshibas have and it tries but then errors out and gave me the message your hard drive is locked. Unlock it and try again. They did a number on it. Any suggestions? In some other instances it says a portion of a partition is missing. I got in far enough to see there are still Windows system files but obviously they have messed them up in a bad way but I thought maybe if there are still stuff on there perhaps we can save the situation? He has the recovery disks as well. I have no illusion that his personal files like documents etc will be recoverable at this point I just wondered if I can get it going again. If I could just get in I can clean out the viruses, had he called me before this point I am sure something could have been done but I have tried every trick I could think of and hoped maybe there is an expert on this forum that can throw me some ideas.

You can try these however it sure looks like the Windows 10 drive has failed. If the drive has failed is it still under warranty? Most come with 3 to 5 years.

Boot with a Installation or Repair disc or USB drive - issue these from the Command

Prompt and hit ENTER after each.

C:

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

bootrec /scanos

bootrec /rebuildbcd

After the above you may need to run StartUp Repair (even 2 or 3 times)

Using EasyBCD often works when other methods do not. <-- if Bootrec did not help use this.

Translate the Windows 8/8.1 methods to Windows 10.

Are you talking about the PCI DVB-T and analog TV/FM tuner card?

Make a backup copy of his data files onto a dedicated external source separate from everything else like a USB flash drive or USB hard drive. Boot from a Windows 10 installation USB flash drive or DVD, at the first screen press shift + F10. In the command prompt run:

diskpart
select disk 0
clean
exit
exit

Do a clean install of Windows 10 to the newly erased hard drive. Use a good anti-virus program to scan the heck out of the data files on the external drive where they are stored.
