Have searched and tried most of ways on YouTube but no help.

The bootrec.exe failed to fix the problem, the auto repair is useless, the restore to a previous point got an error so there is no point for me to choose.

Text covered by white rectangulars makes it hard for debugging. The rectangular appeared everywhere, even in command line prompt.

A bit background of what I have done that may probably lead to this error.

I joined the windows insider program for Linux subsystem. I found the insider version made it hard for some VMs to run and configure, therefore I disabled it and restored my laptop keep the files but remove all the applications

My laptop is Dell XPS13 9360. System is Windows 10 family version.

    :)

Boot loop after update no safe mode option-repair fails- restore fails

Last night around 9pm I noticed the pc was doing another update. Endless boot loop again. I ran through the steps from yesterday with one new result and it will not boot.

  3. Windows fails to start after update, fails to repair, failed to reset

Windows failed to boot after restarting from an update a few days ago.

    • I went into recovery and tried to use a restore point, which works but fixes nothing.
    • I created a flash drive and tried the same thing off the computer hdd and again nothing.
    • Ran sfc and chkdsk commands, all of which did nothing.
    • I ran the start up repair as well which waits 10 seconds and says it can't be repaired.
    • I ran reset and keep files, which fails immediately
    • I went to console and copied out all of my important files from the C drive
    • I ran reset and delete files which ran for about 20 seconds and failed
    • After running the reset it now fails to find C. It can't load the on disk recovery, can't find the boot media, or even see the disk in diskpart ran from the usb.
Basically, windows recovery just bricked my hdd, is there any way to fix that or am I just screwed now?

Black Screen /w mouse on startup - safe mode boot, repair and reset fails

    Hi all!

Since yesterday, my up-to-date Windows 10 PC boots to a black screen. Hoewever, I can

    • move the mouse
    • use some shortcut functions, e.g. open monitor options by pressing Win+p or open speech input by pressing Win+Enter.

    What I tried:

    • Rebooting after unplugging all USB devices -> same behaviour
    • safe mode -> same behaviour
    • low resolution mode -> same behaviour
    • system repair (via advanced boot menu) -> it fails with an error
    • system reset (retaining data) -> it fails with an error
    • system restore -> cannot find any recovery points (though I do not believe there are none)
    • booting with a usb flash device set up with the boot media creation tool -> does not find the windows installation

Seems to me like I am pretty up a gum tree here. However, any suggestions?

    Kind regards,
