Windows 10: Booting From SDHC - SD Card Not Found

Hello everyone,


Let me attempt to describe my issue.


I have an SD card which has another operating system on it, and I'd like to boot my laptop from that OS. However, since flashing to the SD it does not show up in My PC, or when I open my computer's boot menu. I can see it in diskpart, but when I attempt to assign it a letter I get an error.


What have I done wrong?


I flashed using etcher, and my boot menu only shows windows and my ssd as well as PCI LAN, but that's not really relevant

SD card/SD card reader no longer working

Bradleyb, in your Device Manager do you have anything listed in Storage Controllers? I get an entry for MMC/SD. I just checked a 1GB SD card and a 4GB SDHC card, both worked in File Explorer to show their contents.




Side note: A caveat for such cards is that if they are to be used in a camera they need to be formatted in the camera, not in Windows.

 

C1-01 Micro SD/SDHC

I have bought an 8GB micro SDHC card for my mother's C1-01 and before I give it to her (as the dull part of her Christmas present!) I need to know whether I should have bought a micro SD card instead. I am fairly sure that the phone supports up to 32GB, which
suggests it will support micro SDHC (I believe micro SD only goes up to 4GB). I tried a micro SD card in it some time ago and it fitted perfectly, but the micro SDHC card looks a slightly different size and shape. I have been trying to find out about the compatability
between SD and SDHC, but it is not clear. Also, thee C1-01 sellers suggest it takes micro SD, while the memory card sellers say it will support SDHC! Thanks.
