Windows 10: Booting from Windows 10 on separate cold swapped SSD within the same pc

Hi,I am trying to find a solution to keep personal files separate in the same pc hardware wise; I currently have my personal pc which has a single SSD with Windows 10 installed. If I was to purchase another SSD could I unplug SSD 1 which has my personal files on it and plug in the newly bought SSD 2, install Windows 10 and use it as an independent drive with a fresh Windows with no ill affects from cold swapping between the two drives or bios changes being made to SSD 1? I don't want to swap between the drives and suddenly when I cold swap SSD 1 and boot from it my bios OC and power changes be

I was having a slow boot issue on my Windows 7 install a little while back. It would take about 30 - 40 extra seconds to boot up for whatever reason.

I would try following these steps, while this didn't solve my issue, it did increase Read/Write to where it should be.

In the end, I had to reinstall my Windows 7 entirely to fix the booting issue. It was taking around 35 seconds to boot, and after the fresh install it takes about 7 seconds to boot.

 

Windows 10 PC, issues with sleep and slow boots

This is my fiancees machine, recently assembled out of spare parts. Previous setup did not have this issue, so its confusing me. Only real change is the ram and CPU from an i5 2400

1TB samsung HDD.

So the problems are fun and interesting:

1. The intel management Interface is showing a Code 10 "status_device_power_failure" in device manager. I've tried 9.5, 10 and 11 drivers from the intel website. same problem on all.

2. Sleep mode simply does not work - waking the system seems to work, after 2 seconds it reboots and powers up from a cold boot like it was hibernated (boots very slowly too). With hibernate disabled, it just does a very slow cold boot.

3. I may just be used to SSD's, but the system seems to boot a lot slower than i expect it should even from a cold boot.

Thoughts, suggestions, fixes etc?

What you want done is very simple and can be done in short period of time. Here's my suggestion:
There's 2 modes that Windows can be installed: UEFI and the old legacy MBR. Open Disk Management, look at the disk where your C drive is, if there's a

1. EFI System Partition, your Windows was installed using UEFI.
2. System Reserved partition, your Windows was installed using MBR

Next, Connect your SSD to an available Sata port (no need to format or do anything). Download: Macrium Reflect Free . Install and run. Follow the steps below:

1. From Macrium, click on image this disk under your C drive and save it to either an Internal or External Drive. This will create a single backup image of the whole disk containing your C drive.
2. Again, from Macrium, click on Restore tab and select the image created from step 1, Select your SSD as the destination drive, click Next->Finish
3. Exit Macrium. If your Windows was installed using MBR, Open disk management and make sure the SSD is marked "Active" else go to next step.
4. Shutdown your PC. Disconnect the HD containing Windows C drive then connect your SSD to it.
5. Reboot. Your PC should boot and the Windows should have C as the drive letter.

NOTE: The procedure above is to backup your Windows to an image file then copy it back to the SSD. This ensures proper cluster size aligment for the SSD. In addition, Macrium also perform Trimming for the SSD. This is more preferable than cloning.
