  1. Booting Linux on Remote Desktop Connection

    Hi,

I have been given a USB drive that I need to use to get into my work systems.

The usual way of doing this is shutting down the computer, clicking F12 > USB, which then boots the drive.

I travel around quite a bit and don't want to carry my high performance PC with me, instead, using a mid range laptop and connecting to my PC via remote desktop.

Having tried booting the USB through my laptop, I have noticed that I lose connection and can't regain control until my computer has restarted again, meaning I never get the option to boot the USB drive.

What is the solution around this?

Thank you Booting Linux on Remote Desktop Connection :)

    :)

    Remote Desktop Connection problems

Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

    1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
    2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
    3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:
    4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
Try the above, post back how it went.

    Remote desktop tool

I need a remote desktop tool that will allow me to connect to a linux computer from a windows computer. I am using ubuntu. My linux computer is my file server/ torrenting computer. I don't have a monitor to use for it (nor room for a monitor) so I was thinking I could just use a remote desktop tool. I would also like to be able to connect to other windows based machines (like my game server). Any sugestions on a good FREE remote desktop tool for windows and linux.
