Booting to calendar screen and requests password after using feedback

I reported this problem on here already and last time solved it by re-installing Windows from a back-up.

The problem has returned. But this time I have discovered something interesting. I believe it should be possible to troubleshoot the problem.

I have found that the problem comes about after using the online feedback form that comes with Windows 10. The feedback form requires that the user log in before posting. However it does not appear to give the user the option to log out again. For some unknown reason, whenever I have used the feedback app then shut down the computer and rebooted, Windows boots to the calendar screen. When I click on that screen it changes to the dark blue password login screen and asks me for my password. I have never had a password!

I was so thrown by this last time it happened that I did not consider that it was asking me for my online Microsoft password. But this is exactly what it wants. This time I typed in my online Microsoft password and hey presto it continued to boot to Windows. The problem is I am now stuck in an infinite loop of having to click on a calendar screen and enter the password every time I boot up.

It seems that Windows 10 is somehow confusing my online password with an offline password and is expecting the online password to be entered offline in order to log in.

Can anyone suggest a way to log out of Microsoft feedback app permanently?

I tried going online and logging in and out of the Microsoft webpage, but this did not solve the problem.

I do not want a password to log in. I just want Windows to boot to the main screen as it did before.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    :)

  2. Boots to calendar screen and requests password after using feedback app

I have stumbled on a solution. When you click on the Windows Feedback app, a popup window appears and you must log into your account in order to post a feedback message. For some strange reason, every
time I use the feedback app and log in to my Windows account, Windows is changing my account from a local user account to a Microsoft account. I have tried this multiple times and can repeat the same outcome every time.

The solution to the problem is as follows:

    1) Click on Windows Start icon, Settings.

    2) Click on Accounts.

    3) Click on Sign in as a local user instead.

    4) Enter your Microsoft account password.

    5) When asked for passwords for the local user account, leave them blank.

    6) Reboot.

    7) Windows will now boot to the opening page and no longer request a password.

Can anybody else replicate this problem after using the Windows Feedback app? I am surprised nobody else is having this problem. For me, the problem occurs EVERY time after I log into the Windows Feedback
    app.

  3. Boots to calendar screen and requests password after using feedback app

Thank you for your reply. I do not appear to have the option of logging in with my user account from the Windows feedback app. Only one user name and password request window appears in the popup window and that is the Microsoft one.

Well I am not getting the calendar screen after following your suggestion. But it is still asking me for a password. I deliberately typed in an incorrect password and it comes up with a message "Windows is offline, please enter your password to continue".

In answer to your question, yes it lets me continue when I enter my online Microsoft account password.

This is really strange. It is almost as if the feedback app is still running in the background and it needs a password to keep it happy.

no sure I under stand what you mean by online password ,,I use my Hotmail acct when i install/setup win10,so I can install store app and sync to other computers .. I have never had to put a password in to go to feedback site ..

so did you setup win10 using a Microsoft acct or as a local user

    I will say it again.

The problem always begins as soon as I use the Windows feedback app.

To find this app, left click on Windows icon, then go through all apps. It appears there as "Windows Feedback". Click on this and a pop up box appears which requests you to log in. You can use it to leave feedback for Microsoft. However the app does not allow the user to log out again. So after I shut down the PC and restart it or reboot, it comes up with a password screen and will not let me continue until I enter my Microsoft account password. Believe it or not this is what is happening.

I have unchecked the need for passwords, yet it still keeps asking me for my Microsoft password every time I restart or reboot.

To answer your question I am not sure what you mean about local user or MS account. I installed from a DVD. I have never had a password and system has worked fine. The problem only occurs after I use the feedback app.

Once I can get rid of this log in screen I will never use the feedback app again.

Booting to calendar screen and requests password after using feedback

I have stumbled on a solution thanks to caperjack for bringing user accounts to my attention.

I have discovered that every time I use the feedback app and log in to my Windows account, Windows changes my account from a local user account to a Microsoft account.

Can anybody else replicate this problem after using the Windows Feedback popup? I am surprised nobody else is having this problem. For me, the problem occurs EVERY time after I log into the Windows Feedback app.

Thanks. I must admit, it was very daunting and puzzling to suddenly get that password screen, considering I had never set a password for Windows.

I am amazed that more people have not run into this problem, which is dead easy to solve but very confusing when it happens. The thing is you send feedback to Microsoft, shut down your computer and forget about it. Then boot up next morning or a few days later and suddenly find out Windows won't let you back in unless you have a password. The other thing is that most people have a different password to their Microsoft account for logging on to their computer. It took me ages to figure out that the password it wanted was my Microsoft account password. I'm sure Microsoft could improve on this feature, e.g. add the ability to log out from within the feedback app window.

I send feed back all the time ,but I use a Microsoft acct , and not a local acct . ,so I'm thinking that's likely the difference

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between the two accounts? Are there any advantages to using a Microsoft acct as opposed to a local acct? Do you have to log in to your computer with a password every time you boot up Windows with a Microsoft acct? (When I had the Microsoft acct I had to log in with a passwrd even though I had unchecked the requirement for a password at startup.)

Booting to calendar screen and requests password after using feedback

biggest difference is you need to login with a Microsoft acct to be able to get apps from the Microsoft store,, after you get what you want you can change back to a local acct .not sure why disabling the need to type in a password ,it works for me on my 2 devices

I just tried an experiment. If I change to my Microsoft Acct through User Accts in Control Panel, then uncheck the password requirement on startup, I do not get the log in screen. Windows boots straight up.

But if I am in user acct and log into Microsoft acct through the Feedback App, it then asks me for a password the next time I boot up, whether I uncheck the requirement for a password or not.

    Really strange!!
