I'm the only user of mine as well. Feedback app always requires me to log in with password from a user acct.

do you use the same Microsoft acct when signing for both, also do you close out the feedback app after you are finished with it

    Yes the same Microsoft account.

I only have one Microsoft account and one User acct. Both are used by me. I only use the User acct.

Regarding the feedback app, the point I've been trying to make all along is that the Feedback app requires the user to log in but it does not have a logout button.

I have searched and searched inside the Feedback app window for a way to logout, but this is entirely absent.

I personally believe that this is what causes the problem. You login to your Microsoft acct, close the Feedback popup window after you've left feedback, but you are NOT logged out. You remain logged in. This is why it asks for your Microsoft password the next time you boot up.

I do not think it is right that a Microsoft app should be changing an account on someone's computer without their knowledge, then not reverting to the former account once the app is closed down. Even if there was some wording to this effect, such as "Warning: By signing in to your Microsoft account you are about to change your system from a User Account to a Microsoft Account" that would be a big help.

There is nothing worse than being suddenly asked for a password on boot up, especially when you have never used a password to log into Windows. *Mad

the app it did no require me to sign in when I was signed into win10 using my microsft acct , iam always signed in with said acct .
if you signe into windows and go to the info in my first post about typing ,netplwiz in to run and uncheck sign in with password ,then put in your password ,you should not be asked again to sine into windows

yeah, ok I under stand ,but I'm getting all mixed up ,if you are signed into you acct ,then when you go to the feedback app you would not need to put in a password

Yes that is correct. The app only causes the problem if I am in my regular user acct when I use it.

Yes when going from one acct to another. No, it should not be normal when going from one app to another, especially if the user is not explicitly aware of the changes being made or their consequences.

As I said earlier, the first time this happened to me:

    1) I could not understand why the password page had suddenly appeared on the subsequent bootup.
    2) I did not realize that the sudden appearance of the password screen was linked to my use of the feedback app the night before.
    3) I did not understand that it required my Microsoft account password, which I had only ever used before when logging into my account on the Microsoft website. I have always used a User acct without password for Windows.
    4) I tried random numbers and digits but of course it would not let me back into Windows.
    5) I asked the Microsoft Community for help and a support engineer replied that I need to boot in safe mode. He did not seem to understand that I could not get back into Windows because I did not understand what password it required. He did not know what I meant by a password. LOL!
    6) Due to my total bewilderment I ended up re-installing Windows 10 from a back up that I had made 2 days earlier. This took considerable time, which I only now see had been a total waste of time. I only had to use my Windows account password. But it didn't actually ask me for that explicitly and at that time I did not know that this was the password it required.

In short, Windows apps should be designed to be "user friendly", not "user bewildering".

You well may laugh at my "comedy of errors", but I came across another Windows 10 forum on which many people had also been bewildered by the sudden appearance of the password screen. Some had become so frustrated that they had resorted to re-installing Windows. Many ideas were posted about the reasons for the problem. Some thought it came about due to a bad update, or an update that had not installed properly, or was not finished installing. The irony is that none of them considered the feedback app, which they had all no doubt been using to contact Microsoft about the problem.

Yes I am not going to use it again. But at least if I do use it I know why I get the password screen on next boot up.

Thanks again for your suggestion about the accounts. Once I understood what was going on it began to make sense and the problem was soon solved. *Party
