Windows 10: Booting Ubuntu from USB while Bitlocker is enabled.

I recently restarted by Dell inspiron 16 7620 and booted from my live Ubuntu USB without issue. I shutdown, removed the USB and powered back on and got the Bitlocker recovery key prompt. I entered the key and booted into Windows 11 without issue. My intentions are to use my Ubuntu live USB to do a full install on a spare USB stick I have so I can gain familiarity w/ Linux OS while I'm taking some Linux courses for school. I'm concerned about having to unlock my windows drive w/ Bitlocker after every time I'm done using Ubuntu on USB and try to boot back into Windows.As long as I provide the ri

Dual Booting Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04 with Bitlocker Enabled

I took the following steps to create a dual boot setup on my SurfaceBook with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04

1) Installed Windows 10

2) Suspended Bitlocker

3) Installed Ubuntu 18.04 from a USB bootable thumbdrive alongside Windows 10. This completed successfully and I restarted.

4) Presented with GRUB screen to choose OS and chose to enter Windows10 (worked this one time) which automatically re-enabled Bitlocker.

5) Restarted which presents the GRUB screen, I selected Windows10 and was presented with the Bitlocker recovery screen

6) Entered my recovery code and clicked the restart button

7) Shown GRUB screen and picked Windows10 again

8) Presented with Bitlocker recovery screen ....

9) This loop continues indefinitely

I am stuck entering the 48-digit Bitlocker recovery code indefinitely, never making it through to Windows. I tried using the Windows command prompt to enter 'manage-bde -unlock <48 digit code>', but when I run 'manage-bde -status', the encrypted windows volume is not even listed as an option. It does not see the Windows partition at all.

I can enter and use Ubuntu with no issue. Had I disabled Bitlocker, there would be no issue. It's the Bitlocker part that's causing me all the headache.

What are the proper steps to get this dual boot working with Bitlocker?

 

Bitlocker Randomly Enabled

Hi,

On my personal Lenovo laptop, Bitlocker somehow randomly was enabled. I have not enabled it, and I followed the recovery steps without luck. It seems that it was enabled during an update. I logged into my Microsoft account, see that the laptop is listed, but there is no bitlocker key listed. I am at a loss on what the next steps might be for me to be able to log into my computer at this point.

Windows 10 Home asks for Bitlocker recovery key prompt on every boot after dual boot with ubuntu

I have already enabled secure boot. And during installation of ubuntu, I didn't switch off the secure boot. I don't know why the windows boot loader showing Bitlocker recovery key prompts.
