BOSD 7 times today, either while using Chrome or right after boot up

As the title says, I've gotten the BOSD 7 times today. The BOSD said it was because of various things throughout the day, at first it said it was Memory Management, but after that I just started to get annoyed. Checking back through the event logs, the bugcheck says the errors were: 0x00000050; 0x000000ef ; 0x0000001a; 0x0000000a; 0x00000139; 0x000000c1
If it isn't obvious, I really don't know how to solve this or if the bugcheck errors help at all. What I do know is that I was just using google chrome when some of the crashes happened. Also during the day, several times I booted up my computer and logged in and then went away for 5 minutes after logging in (without doing anything). When I came back, it was obvious that my computer had restarted.

I guess I can survive with my computer crashing randomly, but if anyone could help, it'd be greatly appreciated.

    :)

Windows 10 is slow and lacks security. How to remove it from the computer?

Many thanks Pawan Dhondiyal for your response and suggestions.

Q1 response....the system is slow to boot up.

In windows 7 it took seconds to boot

In windows 10 it takes minutes to boot.

During this time my screen goes blank so I am not sure what is happening.

Q2 response....I was getting messages that my computer was infected and asked to install software!!!

Q3 response...while using windows 7 I constantly received a message that my system was going to "upgrade"

to windows 10 in 60 minutes.

As i left my computer on today, the system automatically "upgraded" to windows 10 today Saturday 24th April..

I am also now getting the following message each and every time I boot up -

"Google Chrome isn't your default browser"

    "Set as default"

    or

    Don't ask again.

Google Chrome has always been my default browser in windows 7.

In addition I have now tried the 5 steps you suggest.

    Nothing ha changed or improved.

    Hi Yargblarg,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

Some crashes might be related to each other.
The 0x1a(memory_management) is either caused by a driver or bad memory.
Seeing from the other errors that some have also a bad memory as 1 of the usual causes, we need to check the memory.

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Thank you for helping me with this issue. I ran the tests last night, I only was able to do 7 passes, but on the 2nd pass there was a memory error. I can give you the specific errors if needed, but I read through that thread you linked to and it sounds like since i have 3 sticks of 2gb ram, I'm going to have to run this program again with each individual piece of RAM in each individual DIMM slot for a total of 9 tests... ugh

It makes sense that its a memory error because sometimes chrome crashes because of some memory error or something. Also, funny enough, since i made my first post, my computer didn't have any BSOD's, but once i booted it up to respond to this thread, it had another BSOD with "Faulty hardware" or something.

Also, since my computer has 6 DIMM slots, do i have to test the unused slots?

Also, I just got 3 more BSOD's today after posting this (which is why I'm adding it). The first one happened while I was listening to spotify and playing some Asphalt 8. Sometimes when I restart a race in Asphalt 8, it crashes, but this time my computer got a BSOD that said "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". So, I restarted my computer, logged in, opened chrome and asphalt 8, and I got another BSOD. This time, it said "DRIVER_PAGE_FAULT_IN_FREED_SPECIAL_AREA". So, I rebooted my computer, logged in and let it sit for two minutes to load this time, and then it got the same BSOD as last time. Now its working fine (fingers crossed). I don't know if this information helps at all, but I thought I'd bring it up because its part of the ongoing BSOD issue.

I would first test the used slots, that is more then enough work.

If I am correct, those crashes have memory as a cause.

So I've spent the past week running tests on my computer, and the results are quite surprising. I ran a test for each stick of ram in each of the three DIMM slots that I use on my motherboard, and I only got errors for the second stick of RAM in the second DIMM slot, but not in any other of the tests:
    Attachment 42452
Also, I just retested the second stick of RAM in the second DIMM slot and it came up with no errors, even after 13 passes. I must admit I am thoroughly confused as to what the issue is. So, what would you recommend that I do?

Check the BIOS for the RAM frequency and make sure it is supported by the motherboard.

So here are two pictures, one of the advanced bios settings on my computer and the other being one of my sticks of ram. In case you can't see what they say, the bios says that the RAM is operating at 1066Mhz and a "Profile DDR Voltage" of 1.5V. My RAM on the other hand operates (or can operate up to) 1333 Mhz @ 1.65v. My processor is an i7 950 that can operate RAM up to a frequency of 1066 Mhz and my motherboard operate RAM at both 1333 and 1066 Mhz, among other frequencies.

I'm wondering if either the change in voltage (1.5v vs 1.65v) or the difference in operating frequency (1066 Mhz vs 1333 Mhz) is causing the problem.

    My motherboard: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1366 - GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0)

    My processor: Intel QPI) Specifications
My RAM (i couldn't find the manufacturers website): OCZ Gold 6GB Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1333LV6GK - Newegg.com

Lets first check the frequency, please set it to 1333 MHz

  11. Yargblarg Win User
So I've now set it to 1333 Mhz (which I don't think is supported by my processor) and my computer got another BSOD, but anyway, what should I do now that my RAM is at the higher frequency?

Set the frequency back to what it was and make sure the contacts of the modules are clean.

How do you tell if the contact modules are clean, and how do you clean them if they are dirty? Is this something I should ask in one of the other sections?

If there is no dust or something on the contacts it is clean.
A good way to clean them would be with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.

This post is a good post for cleaning the slots.

So last night once i realized that the difference in frequency wasn't the issue, I figured I may as well try changing the voltage of the RAM in the BIOS since the motherboard was running the ram at 1.5V even though the RAM should run at 1.65V, so I changed the voltage of the ram to 1.640V. I probably should have done that back when I first built the computer, but that was a long time ago and I didn't know what a "BIOS" was. Anyway, so I set the higher voltage, lowered the ram frequency to something supported by my old Intel 950 processor, and then I ran Memtest86. It's done 16 passes with no errors, so I think I fixed it....

Also, I did check the RAM and it seems to be clean

    Thank you for you help
