Windows 10: Both Ctrl Buttons Not Working

Yesterday morning on the train it was fine, but in the evening when I got back to the dorm both ctrl keys were not working. I did a test on the keyboard test sites on Google but it doesn't recognize the key. If it was only one of them, I would have thought it was a hardware problem, but since both were not working, it seemed strange. I ran the computer through the x-ray machine to board the plane in the evening and wondered if this had an effect, but it seemed ridiculous, especially with only two ctrl buttons. Could it be a problem with the add-ons I downloaded from the windows store preventin

If Ctrl + W does not work for CS2 even after trying a new keyboard and ensuring that Toggle Keys, Sticky Keys, and Filter Keys are off, there are a few other things you can try:

• Remap the Ctrl + W keybind: You can try remapping the Ctrl + W keybind to a different key combination in CS2. To do this, follow these steps:
  
  1. Open CS2 and go to the Options menu.
     
  2. Click on the “Keyboard/Mouse” tab.
     
  3. Find the “Toggle Weapon” keybind and click on the “Change” button.
     
  4. Press the new key combination that you want to use for the Toggle Weapon keybind.
     
  5. Click on the “OK” button to save your changes.
     
• Verify the integrity of the game files: It is possible that some of the game files for CS2 have become corrupted. You can verify the integrity of the game files through Steam by following these steps:
  
  1. Open Steam and go to your Library.
     
  2. Right-click on CS2 and select “Properties.”
     
  3. Click on the “Local Files” tab.
     
  4. Click on the “Verify integrity of game files…” button.
     

Steam will then scan the game files for CS2 and replace any corrupted files that it finds.

• Update your graphics drivers: Outdated graphics drivers can sometimes cause problems with games. To update your graphics drivers, follow these steps:
  
  • For NVIDIA graphics cards:
    
    • Go to the NVIDIA website and download the latest drivers for your graphics card.
      
    • Once the drivers have been downloaded, run the installation program and follow the on-screen instructions.
      
  • For AMD graphics cards:
    
    • Go to the AMD website and download the latest drivers for your graphics card.
      
    • Once the drivers have been downloaded, run the installation program and follow the on-screen instructions.
      
• Reinstall CS2: If none of the above steps work, you can try reinstalling CS2. To reinstall CS2, follow these steps:
  
  1. Uninstall CS2 from your computer.
     
  2. Delete the CS2 folder from your Steam directory.
     
  3. Restart your computer.
     
  4. Reinstall CS2 from Steam.

Both CTRL keys not working

• Do you get any error message?
• Did you make any changes in your computer prior to this issue?

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue.

Follow the steps below and check if that helps.

Method 1: To check if Ctrl keys work in Onscreen keyboard.

• Press Windows Key + R and type osk and hit Enter.

Try using Ctrl keys and check if that helps.

if you still face the issue, try Method 2.

Method 2: Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with the Bluetooth adapter. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X, select
  Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to
  Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
  
• 
  Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Ctrl buttons not working

This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand your concern about CTRL not working.

Windows don’t allow you to remap keys directly. All keyboards have 2 CTRL, both CTRL keys not working? Aside from pressing CTRL+V, you may use the right-click menu to perform a paste command. You can also try to use an external keyboard instead of your laptop's
keyboard.
