Windows 10: Both integrated and external Keyboards stop working randomly

Hi,For a few months now both my wife's laptop and mine both Asus with fully updates windows 10 have been having this issue. It started happening in hers and after a few weeks it stopped but then started happening in mine. It's very weird, because I'll be working on something fine and all of a sudden, the letter and number keys on both keyboards will stop working but the bigger than and smaller than arrows <> at the left of the keyboard will work fine, as well as the shift and caps lock keys. Keyboard randomly stopped working

My built in laptop keyboard stopped working after the computer randomly turned off by itself.

(Laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad).

I have tried:

Uninstalling drivers and scanning for hardware changes to reinstall them.

Entering safe mode (computer wouldn’t even start in safe mode).

Entering the BIOS to see if there were any changes I could make there (there weren’t).

Now I am getting Code 19 and Code 12 errors for the keyboard in Device Manager.

I’ve tried all troubleshooting steps on many websites, and nothing works.

External keyboards work when I plug them in.

Please help!!

 

External Mouse and Volume Keys on External Keyboard Stopped Working


I've been using an external mouse and keyboard with my laptop for a while now. A few days ago, the mouse stopped working. It's a wired mouse and the red light comes on when it's plugged in. At the same time, the top row of keys on my wired keyboard stopped working (the volume controls, mail button, home, customizable buttons, etc.). When I plug the mouse in, it appears under Other Devices in the Device Manager, listed twice as a USB Input Device. When I try to update the driver automatically, it says Windows was unable to. The mouse doesn't work in safe mode. I tried a wireless mouse as well and it doesn't work either. My external keyboard shows up under keyboards as an HID Keyboard Device and Windows says the best drivers for my device are already installed. I've tried all three USB ports and the mouse works on another computer. The built-in keyboard and touch pad on my laptop still work fine. What else can I do? Thanks in advance.

 

Keyboard randomly stops working after sometime

Hi,

The keyboard is working in BIOS mode however in the Windows mode it stops, this could be happening because the System files of the OS maybe corrupt. Run a SFC scan and check. Follow the below steps:

• Press Windows + X
• Choose "Command prompt (Admin)"
• Type " sfc /scannow"
• Press Enter.
