Windows 10: Both of CTRL keysleft and right stopped working after windows update, and yes im 100% sure...

It has happened with me before, i was not sure about it back then, but i updated my windows on 14th october 2020 and both CTRL keys started working. I updated my windows again yesterday and they stopped working again. Im on Windows 10 pro, build - 19042.610 right now. I tried Safe boot, Reinstalling HID driver of keyboard, changing keyboard's USB port but no luck. Control keys of my virtual keyboard are working fine. I cant restore my system cause i haven't turned it on and formatting my pc for this issue is too much work with no assurance of solving the problem but i think clean install will be the last option.

1. Type On screen Keyboard and then Enter.

2. You get the onscreen keyboard display

3. Check if the ctrl keyboard works or not

Method 2: Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with the Bluetooth adapter. Refer these steps:

1.
Press Windows key + X, select
Control panel.

2.
Change the view by option on the top right to
Large icons.

3.
Click on troubleshooting and click on the
view all option on the left panel.

4.
Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

5.
Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Method 3:

Step 1:Reinstall the keyboard drivers

I suggest you to reinstall the keyboard drivers on your computer and check if it helps. Refer the below steps to update the driver.

1. Press “Windows + X” and select Device manager.

2. Select
Keyboards and expand the driver icon.

3. Right click on the driver icon and click on
Uninstall.

4. Restart the computer


5. Follow the 1st step and then select the action tab and then select Scan for hardware changes.

Step 2: Update the keyboard drivers

1. Press “Windows + X” and select Device manager.

2. Select
Keyboards and expand the driver icon.

3. Right click on the driver icon and click on
Update.

4. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.

5. Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Note: Make sure that your internet connection is on while you are updating drivers.

right side CTRL key does not work

Thanks for your response. I've tried all the steps you've recommended and my problem has not been resolved.

My computer is a Lenovo Ideapad P400 laptop so its not a stand alone keyboard. Right side ctrl key does not work on the on screen keyboard. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
