Windows 10: Bought laptop, upgraded to Pro w/MS Store, laptop defective, returned for exchange, I'm out...

The email I received from Microsoft Store when I purchased an upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro contained no activation code. So let's get that out of the way right from the start.My MS account now has two laptops registered:1 My current laptop.2 The defective laptop I exchanged for my current laptop.#2 shows it has a Windows 10 Pro upgrade, but the disk got wiped before I returned it for the exchange. I've spent most of the weekend with MS support trying to get this resolved with a remote control support person from MS downloading an ISO and installing Pro, but the result was

Transfer Windows 10 Pro Key from returned laptop

Looking to Transfer a Windows Pro Licence, from a returned Laptop to my current new Laptop.

I upgraded from the MS Store to Windows Pro on a Laptop that I had purchased. This was in January 2020.

I then returned the laptop because it was faulty just a week later.

At the time before returning I ran a recover to original settings to clear all my details off the laptop.

It is now May 2020, and I've purchased a new laptop that I'd like to upgrade to windows 10 Pro.

But i don't see how to.

I can see my original purchase in my Accounts Order History, but there is no key or any other material associated with that purchase.

Under Microsoft.com -> Accounts -> Devices, I do see my original device and it's showing as running Windows 10 Pro.

Given that the original Laptop is long gone and scrubbed clean - how do I upgrade my current laptop without paying for a new Windows Pro Licence?

Desktop w/Win7-Pro & Laptop w/Win8.1

I have a PC & a Laptop both of which are eligible for a free Win 10 upgrade. Is there a way to upgrade the Laptop w/Win8.1 to Win10-Pro and the PC w/Win7-Pro to Win10-Home without additional cost? Asked another way... can a Product Key on two different
devices be 'swapped' at upgrade time or is this all done automatically?
