Windows 10: Bought Windows 10 Pro but troubleshoot only finds license for Home

I bought a digital version of Windows 10 Pro, and so I installed Pro. I was sent no product key, so I ran activation troubleshoot after installation and it says that "We found a Windows 10 Home digital license for this device running Windows 10 Pro. To activate using this digital license, you need to install Windows 10 Home."


But I definitely bought Pro, and it's my only order on this account. I installed Windows on a clean, brand new SSD.


I double checked and yes, I'm signed into the same Microsoft account on my machine that I used to purchase Windows 10 Pro.

Once you upgraded to a higher version of Windows 10, you will have a digital entitlement that let's you upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Window Pro.

Below are the scenarios and series of troubleshooting steps you can do to activate your Windows 10 Pro:

• If your new device is currently running on Windows 10 Home, select
  Go to Microsoft Store and you'll be prompted to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for free.
• If you have a digital license for Windows 10 Pro, but Windows 10 Home isn't activated on your device, select
  Troubleshoot, and then follow the steps to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.
• If you don't have a digital license for Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Pro is available for purchase from the Microsoft Store.

Easy Upgrade option in Windows 10 Home, you don’t receive a product key. Instead, the

digital license is attached to your Microsoft Account; used to make the purchase. If you decide to transfer the Windows 10 Pro Pack to another computer, you can do so using the

Activation Troubleshooter.



Transfer Windows 10 Pro Pack Key to a new Computer

• Open Settings > Update & security > Activation > Troubleshooter.
• Sign in with your Microsoft Account used to purchase the Pro Pack license.
• After troubleshooting is completed, Windows 10 will indicate a digital license for Windows 10 Pro has been found.
• Click Activate Windows then follow the on-screen wizard.

Windows 10 upgrade license

The interesting question is that: the upgrade takes place before 29 of July. If I upgrade the PC (change the MB), and I transfer the Win 8.1 license to this new PC (cause 8.1 is retail FPP), will I be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free? Or a upgrade license must be bought?
