Brand new laptop - BSOD issues

    Hi,

I'm now at my wits end and hoping someone can help. I am not tech savvy so apologies for the dumb wording and descriptions.

    Background:
I work for a small Not for profit and we purchased a new HP laptop in the new year. About 4 months in, I was continuously getting a BSOD with the stopcode - Driver IRQL not less or equal. What failed: ipeaklwf.sys.. I liaised with HP support as the laptop wasn't even 6 months old yet and after weeks of trouble shooting where the BSOD was crashing the laptop every 3-5 mins, it was becoming unworkable and HP couldn't fix it so in the end replaced it with a new HP Elitebook x360 1020 G2.

I received the new laptop which is running Windows 10 Business and on the second day I was working from home and got exactly the same BSOD and error message as I was getting on the first laptop. Our IT support is remotely located and he can't figure out what is happening other than to tell me that it must be environmental. The problem with that theory is that my first HP would BSOD both at work and at home - two completely different environments. With regard to the new laptop, he was sent a crash report in the morning on the second day (I wasn't fully using it at that time and hadn't noticed it) and then it BSOD again that night whilst I was at home. Again, two different environments.

My question is - has anyone ever had this happen to a brand new laptop. It's still only three and a half weeks since I started using it. It's worth noting that my colleague has EXACTLY the same laptop, purchased at the same time so it's new too and she's not had this issue.

It makes me wonder if the Internet (am using Chrome) or my wifi connection either at my work or home make it do that. I haven't had a BSOD at work (other than the initial crash report that was sent to our IT guy on the very first day). I was working on the laptop for 6 hours last week, mostly in excel and when I finished my work, I went onto the internet and it crashed. Likewise tonight, I went onto a website (www.news.com.au) and the first time it crashed I was clicking on an instagram link and the second time a few hours later, I was clicking on a news story. If the wifi could make it BSOD, what is the approach to fix it? Not sure if it means anything but the cooling fan in the laptop has been on for most of that time. It has surprised me how often it comes on actually.

I've read a few things about Windows 10 causing BSOD and also about the HP Velocity software/driver but I don't know what to do with that information to move forward. I just have no idea where to go from here - I can't bear the thought of having to trouble shoot the same issue again, especially on a brand new device, so I appreciate any of your advice or suggestions.

    Thanks
    Nardia

    BSOD on brand new laptop!

I got a brand new laptop thursday and within about 3 hours I got the dreaded blue screen of death. Upon restarting I got the BSOD loop. The only things I had installed were avira antivirus, firefox, and I started to download a free game (got the code with
the new laptop): watchdogs 2. The game was a huge 20+ gb download and the crash happened halfway through that.

There have been two messages on the BSOD pages: KERNAL_SECURITY_CHECK FAILURE and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I am able to start in safe mode. I clicked on each driver and autochecked for updates. Only one updated: killer wireless card.

Here's a link to my dmp files:

    Please help!

    Brand new PC BSoD

    Hi,

Corrupted drivers and system files are one of the possible reasons why this issue is happening. We'd like to get additional information to help resolve the issue. Kindly answer the following questions below:

    • What is the stop error code showing on the screen whenever you experience BSoD? (e.g.: 0x0000000A, 0x0000003B, and 0x000000EF)
    • Did you installed any third-party applications on your new computer before the issue started?
    • Is there a specific action you're doing on the computer that triggers BSoD?
In the meantime, we suggest performing the possible solutions in this
    article
to help resolve blue screen errors.

We'll keep an eye out for your response.
