Windows 10: Brand new Surface Studio Laptop w/16 ram at 44% memory usage on idle. Slow on all app usage.

Just looking at the task manager and the numbers don't add up. Finding software like adobe photoshop to be very slow. See below: Seems like the point of investing more money in the studio pro is that you can actually use it for basic design work and I seem to be getting a ton of slow down lag experiences. Am I missing something? Thank you in advance.It also has a designated graphics card as well. Computer Idling at 10GB memory usage after 1 week of no usage.

Hello, I have a 2015 model ASUS ROG GL 511JW laptop with 16GB DDR3 RAM and 4GB GTX 960M GPU with Intel i7 4720HQ processor. I decided to leave it on for 1 week and did nothing on the device. I let it idle for a whole week and at the end, I found that the memory usage from day 1 @ 2GB usage goes up to 10 GB on day 7. Fun thing is that the memory usage listed under the processes bar of task manager does not add up to even 2GB! Is it possible that my computer is being mined off of? or what could be the possible reason of this error? I'vetried updating all my drivers, used the laptop without it's battery connected, minimized total monitors used. But I still use massive memory chucks until I restart the device.

 

Is 40% Memory Usage at Idle Normal for a Computer with Low Specs?

I have a brand new laptop computer and I have been having some trouble with processes taking up a lot of CPU, disk and memory resources. After a lot of tinkering, I fixed every problem except for having 40% memory usage at idle. I still think having such a high memory usage at idle is a red flag, but then I remembered that this is not my desktop PC, I have very modest specs on this laptop.

• RAM: 4GB
  
• Memory/Storage: 128GB SSD
  
• OS: Windows 10 Pro
  

Maybe 4GB of RAM is barely enough to keep the core processes afloat? Can anyone with some experience on the matter let me know what they think? I'd like to know what is a good baseline for performance so I know when I should stop troubleshooting for leaks/other issues.

I always have High Memory Usage on my laptop as it is idling.

Please advise on how do I troubleshoot the high memory usage in order to resolve it?

Please advise whether I should be getting more RAM instead?
