    Hello. In the first week of this February, I purchased a new, unused hard drive to be used primarily as a storage drive. I noticed as I was copying files from my D drive to this new one (B drive), copy speeds would start fast and very quickly plummet to <1 MB/s. After investigating this even more, I noticed that inside the Resource Monitor, the B drive active time would immediately shoot up to 100% during the copy/transfer and it would actually stay at 100% even when the transfer was finished. The amount of time it stays at 100% after finishing seems to be correlated with the size of the file being transferred but I can't figure out what exactly that proportion is.


    I have tried the following to fix it:


    -Disabling Windows Defender "Real Time Protection"

    -Disabling superfetch


    Neither of these worked. So what I have done is I have used Windows Performance Recorder to record a "session" where I transfer a large video file from my D drive to my B drive (the problem drive). My hope is that someone here can interpret the results of this recording and help me determine if this is a problem with the drive itself or if Windows is responsible. It should be noted that neither my C drive (250GB solid state) or D drive (1TB hard disk) suffer this problem. They behave quite normally no matter the size of the file (and have done so since I bought each of them over 4 years ago).

    unintialized western digital hard disk drive

    My western digital hard disk drive was functioning quite well on my system but suddenly it stopped coming up in autoplay or file explorer and in the disk management it is listed as "uninitialized". Please what do I do?
