Windows 10: Brand New Windows Laptop - mute button not working

I just recently got this HP laptop 3 days ago and the mute button no longer works and won't mute volume, the yellow light on it will work but it won't mute volume, the slider buttons work, no clue what to do

Mute Buttons sometimes doesn't work

Corrupted/outdated drivers or hardware issue may be the possible reason why your mute button is not working properly. To efficiently assist you, kindly answer the following questions below:

• Have you made any recent changes prior to this issue?
• Have you tried updating your drivers?

In the meantime, I suggest you follow these methods to troubleshoot your laptop:

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.
• Change View by from Category to Small Icons/Large Icons.
• Click on Troubleshooting.
• Select Hardware and Devices and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2: Go to the Manufacturer's website and download the latest keyboard driver.

Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand the Keyboard.
• Right-click on the Keyboard driver
  and select
  Uninstall.
• Now, go to the Manufacturer's Website and download the latest keyboard driver.
  
• Once the download is complete, run the setup file and install the keyboard driver software.
• Restart the computer and check.

Brand new HP elitebook mutes itself when I press "dd" on keyboard

Issue:

This might sound like a "pebkac" issue, but I truly thing my laptop is defective. It is a brand new work HP elitebook with a clean install of Windows 10, and when I press the "d" key in succession two times, the speaker/headphones mute.

I can also press "d" then any other keys, then the second "d" press will mute it. Ex. "d alsdjflakjsdlfa d". If I press keys somewhat together with it, such as "sdsdsdsdsd" where I rock my fingers on them, it does not have the issue.

It does it directly on the laptop with no devices attached and with 2 different brand-new keyboards.

Questions:

1. Is there an app/script I can run in the short term that will un-mute my audio over and over while it's running?
   
2. Is there anything I could do to fix this, or is it likely a defect? I'm in the process of talking to HP, but in the interim this drives me insane
   

 

Mute button not working

I have a Yoga Duet 7i Gen 6 (13" Intel) laptop.

And my mute button on my keyboard suddenly stopped working.

It used to have a pop-up thing that shows up on my screen, which indicates that it has enabled or disabled the mute.

However, now the mute button only lights up the LED keyboard and does nothing. I've tried restarting, and doing all the research but nothing.
