Windows 10: Brightness and sleep settings completely missing after reset

I've seen several posts in forums and various sites with similar issues, but none of them seem to be having quite the same problem I am and the solutions there have not helped me. I have an Asus Zephyrus laptop that's been working great with Windows 10 Pro for years. Today I ran into an issue of the battery not charging when plugged in, and I was advised to reset it by holding the power button down for a full minute and then turning it back on. Solved the problem perfectlyNow, however, the brightness settings are completely gone. There's no slider in display settings, there's no option to add

Computer Sleep Option Missing in Settings

The Settings Power and Sleep menu in Settings should list Screen and Sleep, where Sleep is used to tell when the PC goes to sleep. Sleep is missing, so my computer never sleeps. Fast startup and Hibernate are not enabled.

I used Tutorial Add or Remove Sleep in Power menu in Windows 10 to change the registry while in administrative mode, but sleep still is not seen.


HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FlyoutMenuSettings now lists :1: It was 0 before the change.

I used Option 3 to add sleep using the Group Policy Editor. The steps seemed to work fine, but sleep is still missing.

I’m using a “new” refurbished Dell T3500 workstation with mbr running the current version of win10. I have a number of these computers, and the other all have the normal sleep mode .

As you are unable to get the option for sleep in the Start menu, I suggest you to follow the steps provided by

Also, follow the steps provided below and check if you are able to adjust the brightness.

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapters.
• Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.
• Follow the on-screen prompts to update the driver.

Brightness options completely missing

No there are not. I'm no expert on this but "feels" like if I can get the system regocnize the display I'd had a chance to get this problem solved. Is that assumption way off?
I can get some more screenshots in few hours of the missing brightness bars if it helps
