Windows 10: Brightness buttons not changing brightness as intended, instead following strange formula

I use a laptop with Windows 11. Occasionally, if the device hasn't been restarted for a long time varies depending on exact case the brightness buttons will follow a strange formula when increasing brightness. Normally the buttons to lower and raise the brightness decrease and increase it by around 5% each time, but after testing with multiple different brightness values, the "decrease brightness" button divides the brightness by 2 and subtracts 10, while the "increase brightness" button divides the brightness by 2 and adds 10. Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.
