Windows 10: Brightness constantly at max after returning from sleep on Microsoft Surface Pro 6

For as long as I've had the Surface, when I turn it on in the morning after a long period of non-use, the brightness is at max and light-bombs my face. When I go to brightness settings, they're always the same: what I set them to every day at about 30% brightness.


If I adjust the brightness up or down change it in any way, then the screen changes to the appropriate level even if I slide it over and then right back to 30% again. Bottom line, somehow the Surface thinks I don't need retinas and having a screen that's bright enough to slay Vampires is exactly what I need first thing every day.


I'd rather not lose any more Vampires over this. What do I have to do to fix it?


YES - Adaptive brightness is turned OFF.

loads of people have already mentioned the keyboard so you know that. also when brightness is on lowest setting its constantly trying to adjust. really annoying with both these problems. Couldn't believe in someone else's comment you had told them its not
your problem because it wasn't a Microsoft device. it windows! and it does it with the surface.

 

Surface Pro 6 - Sleep Unavailable

I have a Surface Pro 6 that is fully up to date. My wife also has the exact same computer which we purchased at the same time. Mine does not have the Sleep option available. I have tried going into advanced power options but there is no option to tick the
box for sleep on my computer. There is an option to tick hibernate, but not sleep. Both options are available on my wife's computer. I have searched the internet for a solution and tried the various suggestions, but none seem to work.

Any suggestions?

Suggestion: Surface Pro 6 - smooth out adaptive brightness

This has probably been discussed before, but I can't seem to find a suggestion box for Win 10. I like the idea of adaptive brightness, but the constant, noticeable adjustments are distracting. Is MS looking into smoothing the transitions, or is there a
third party utility that will do it for me?
