Brightness hotkeys let me set brightness only to 40% or 60%

Not sure when this happened. As I said in the title the usual brightness hotkeys that used to let me increase or decrease brightness progressively by 10% now work completely differently. The one I used to increase now sets the brightness to 60% and the one used to decrease now sets brightness to 40%. They do nothing else, I don't know what to do.

  3. screen brightness on windows 10

    Hi,

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

    • Click Start, then select Settings.
    • Choose System, then select Display.
    • Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

Feel free to post back if you have other concern.

    Brightness Settings Unavailable?

    Hello Ashton,

That's exactly the problem I'm trying to address. There are no brightness settings in the Action Center, or in Settings/Display, or in Control Panel under any heading. And the physical buttons on my monitor have the brightness selector disabled (which was
not the case before I connected my monitor to the computer).

I have an ASUSPRO C622AQH monitor. Microsoft Support suggested that it's the Intel UHD Graphics 630 driver holding the brightness settings hostage so I can't access them to adjust anything manually (not their words, but the sense of them), and they didn't
have any suggestions to get around it. I was trying to set up hotkeys to adjust brightness, but I can't even get access to the settings slider.

Please let me know if you can think of anything else to try. Thanks!
