  1. Bring back the quick device dropdown on the taskbar for audio settings!

With Windows 10, I was able to simply go to my taskbar sound settings and quickly change the audio source with a simple drop down. I didn't realize how much I used this feature until I upgraded to Windows 11. I frequently switch between my gamming headset and desktop speakers. With Windows 11, I have to open a new window to change my audio sources, and sometimes that window is annoying if I miss the radio button to change the source and it brings me into the source settings. If anyone has any suggestions to make this simple again, I'd love to hear from you. I'm considering going back to win10

    :)

  2. Permanently set default audio device

    Hi Joost,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you need assistance to set your internal sound card as the default playback device on your Windows 10 computer.

In this scenario it is required to disable the audio device of the docking station. Disabling the audio device for the docking station will enable the internal sound card. To do so,

    1. Right click on Volume icon on the taskbar > Open
      Sound settings.
    2. Click on Sound control panel option and click on
      Playback tab.
    3. Right click on the audio device for docking station and click on
      Disable.
    4. This results in enabling the playback device to internal sound card.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to post your query in
    IT TechNet forums
, since the settings which needs to
be implemented on domain environment. We have dedicated team of experts who are equipped with the resources to suggest you with the further steps.

  3. No Audio Output Device is Installed

    Hi,

You will need to select Windows 8 from the drop down list while installing the driver in compatibility mode.

I would suggest you to try setting the speaker as default audio output by following the steps below and check if it helps.

    1. Right click on the sound icon on the right bottom corner of the taskbar.

    2. Select "playback devices".

    3. If "speaker" is not set as the default device, highlight it and click "set as default".

    5. Save the changes.

    Let us know the result.
