Windows 10: Broken phone volume down button now how to perform Reset?

Something happened where when I powered up my phone the exclamation mark appeared and the only way to get it to boot proper was to hold the volume up button along with the power button. Volume down did nothing.
Once booted up the volume slider meter would appear at the top of the screen with no way to close it and turning up the volume slider would only have it slide back to low vibrate on its own. Very annoying and unable to proceed with its presence.
Last ditch effort I jabbed a pin at the physical volume down button and somehow the little button fell into the bowels of my phone.
I felt some relief. No oh crap what have I done feeling whatsoever.
The fight was over...I thought.
But no, my phone began booting up like new... even faster.

Sorry for the long tale but what's the best method when my phone becomes naturally unstable and needs a reset with no volume down button?

Hi. My volume button is broken but it didn't matter because it was set at the loudest which is where I like it. Last night, while my phone was plugged in, a call came in. My phone must have been set down in a way where a button was being pushed and the
incoming call somehow moved the volume all the way down to the quietest setting. Now... I have no idea how to get the volume back up without using the volume buttons. There must be a shortcut for this because how else would the volume have been able to be
lowered. Please advise.

It's a hardware problem.... The exclamation mark appears when the volume down button is pressed for 2-3 seconds when the phone is restarting.. And you also confirmed that your phone's volume was slowing down by itself so it seems that your volume down
button is broken.
