  1. Broken Updater so I Followed WinRE Partition Resize, Now I Lost My Data

I've been frustrated with the broken windows update, so I decided to try following the guide "KB5028997: Instructions to manually resize your partition to install the WinRE update".I followed the instructions and it turned my back up SSD and all my files into some recovery partition. I lost about 1 gb of various programs and important files that I had. I had to delete the recovery partition and use disk management to make it a functionining SSD again.Even better, this did nothing to fix the windows update problem.F*!#'n broken windows.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Update Error(0x80070643) . recovery partition enabled. Can someone advise about this?

Hi JoshuaCaleb! My name is David. I am a user of Microsoft products like you, and it is a pleasure to greet you.

Indeed, the Microsoft link you've shared https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb502... is the method Microsoft suggests for resizing the WinRe partition, and it works without any issues.

Basically, what the steps do is disable WinRe, shrink the main partition by 250 MB, delete the WinRe partition, create a new WinRe partition with the available space, and finally enable WinRe for this partition.

What you should keep in mind in the steps from the link is to select the correct disk. Usually, the disk you should select is where Windows is installed, which you can verify using the Windows Disk Manager.

If you're using a tool like MiniTool, you can also use it to resize the partition. However, my recommendation is to follow the steps provided by Microsoft.

Let me know if the information has been helpful. Regards.

Non destructive partition resizing on Win7

I have 2 SATA HDDs in my PC, all of them divided into 3 partitions as follows:
    HDD1:
    C: Win7 system
    E: software
    F: data

    HDD2:
    D: WinXP system
    G: data
    H: data

Now what i want to do is take some place from partition C: and add it to E: and to do the same with D: and G:, obviously while retaining all data and functionality of both OSes.

I know that Win7 is pretty sensitive on partition structure and essentially refuses to work on any partition that was not created by the Win7 setup. Also I think I wont be able to use built-in windows tools for the resizing, as afaik partitions being used cannot be resized (or at least it's not recommended).

What tool would you recommend me for the action to be on the safest side ?

    Unable to re-enable WinRE

I have browsed several threads regarding the failed update that gives the error 0x80070643.

The solution they have written was to manually resize the partition. After following the steps written in the "Instructions to manually resize your partition to install the WinRE update", I am now unable to re-enable the WinRE due to the WinRE image not being found.

I was wondering how to fix this and if there are any drawbacks having it turned off? Written below are the text in my cmd,

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>reagentc /info

Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) and system reset configuration

    Information:

    Windows RE status: Disabled

    Windows RE location:

Boot Configuration Data (BCD) identifier: 0dea78fa-7b11-11ec-840c-a902461c948e

    Recovery image location:

    Recovery image index: 0

    Custom image location:

    Custom image index: 0

    REAGENTC.EXE: Operation Successful.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>reagentc /enable

REAGENTC.EXE: The Windows RE image was not found.
