Brother DCP-L2540DW Cannot print from computer. Printer says REceiving Data contantly. Queue has been cleared and shows no documents to be printed. Ran trouble shooter. It shows No Issues. Now what????

Brother DCP-L2540DW driver installation

I have had a Brother DCP-L2540DW printer for about five years. Until a week ago, it was operating fine over a USB connection with all requisite Brother software installed. The printer was moved in conjunction with my setting up a home office during the recent
quarantine and I attempted to set it up over a wireless network. The printer is connected to the wireless network and indeed I can print to it if I install it as a generic printer. However, I cannot use the Brother scanning software.

I have attempted, with Brother's assistance, to reinstall their driver package to this device. However, every attempt has met with errors, which they indicate are problems with the computer. In the process, I am fairly certain that I have disabled even the
USB connection should I plug the printer directly in and I cannot reinstall that meaning the device will be half-functionless even once I reopen my office.

The driver package downloads and decompresses as expected and then throws an error when the setup file is run. I have circumvented this first error by moving the decompressed files directly to C:\. That permits the file to run, but partway through the setup,
the program throws an error and terminates. Below are two error messages received. However, other error messages have been received during other attempts, including a "feature transfer error".







I have removed all Brother software, all Brother printers, all Brother scanners, all Brother program data, and all Brother registry entries that I can find and have run Brother's uninstall tools, and I can still not get the software to reinstall.

I still have the original CD from when I purchased the printer, but it does not contain software compatible with Windows 10 and consequently, I must use the downloaded version, which does not work. Other Brother driver packages for other printers download
and install correctly, but are incompatible with this printer.

 

Windows 10S Brother printer DCP-195C will not work

My printer is a Brother DCP-197C and before I read about the Windows 10 Update 'stopping printing' issue, I downloaded the latest device drivers and printer software (DCP-197C on Windows 10) from the Brother website. I followed the Brother website instructions
to uninstall all of the previous Brother printer software, including the device driver(s), and started from scratch; everything is reinstalled, so I know that my printer software is up to date. BUT the Brother DCP-197C still would not work and that is when
I trawled the internet and found these posts about the Windows 10 Update 'stopping printing' issue. De-installing the Windows Update, following the advice in these posts, solved my problem BUT all my printer software is now up to date.

You might want to do the same thing; de-install the driver(s) and software for your printer, then re-install the latest Windows 10 versions from the Brother website to see if this solves your problem on Windows 10.

There may also be a third Windows 10 Update, not mentioned in these posts yet, that is causing perfectly OK printers to stop printing.

 

Surface Pro X printing in negative to my Brother DCP-L2540DW printer

I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving this issue. I understand that when you use the Brother printer you are getting a negative print out. I’ll certainly help you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?
  
• Were you able to print documents properly earlier?
  

As you have tried the suggestions mentioned in the Brother article, I would suggest you to refer the suggestions by
Aditya_Roy Replied on September 17, 2019 from the thread
Printer keeps printing documents in an inverted color scheme
and see if that helps.



If the issue persists, I would suggest you to use the Uninstall Tool to uninstall the driver and reinstall it. You can find the Uninstall Tool in the Utilities section from:
