    BrotherMFC Scan to Network and Windows 10 Firewall


    I'm having an issue where my Brother MFC cannot scan directly to my Win 10's desktop. I had previously shared the desktop folder. This seemed to have started when I upgraded to the Creator's Update.

    Has anyone had success configuring the Windows firewall to allow this? When I disable the firewall for private networks, it works like a charm. With it enabled, I always receive an error message.

    Windows Firewall automatic changes Network and File ShearingSettings

    I have third party Anti Virus E scan and Firewall. So I disable Windows Firewall. But whenever I disable Windows Firewall, Network discovery and sharing settings are automatically on. same as when I Enable Windows Firewall, Network discovery and sharing
    settings are automatically set off. This is a very bizarre situation. I want to set Network discovery and file sharing settings in OFF and to continue with ESCAN Firewall. Please suggest me what should i do.

    I understand that you’re not able to ON or OFF Windows firewall and sometimes Bluetooth also I will make sure to help you with this issue.

    You shouldn't turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall turned on. Turning off Windows Firewall might make your PC (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage from worms or hackers. To turn
    Windows Firewall on or off:

    • In
      Search,
      type
      firewall,
      and then select
      Windows Firewall.
    • Select
      Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
      You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.
      • Note:
        If your PC is connected to a network, network policy settings might prevent you from completing these steps. For more info, contact your administrator.
    If the issue still persist

    I suggest you to run sfc scan I check if it helps:

    System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

    Follow the steps from section "Windows 8.1 or Windows 8" to run SFC scan to scan and fix corrupt system files:

    If the issue still persists.

    Have you tried re-installing the software and allowing it to adjust firewall?

    Might be an opportunity to get latest software from Brother for your device.
