Windows 10: Browser deletes the downloaded file when download is complete if the file is open somewhere.

If I start a video/movie download and play the incomplete downloaded video side by side `*.mkv.crdownload`, the movie works fine. But as soon as the download is complete the file gets deleted automatically and it restarts the download. I am assuming on completion of the download, the browser edge/chrome/etc.. tries to rename the file from `*.mkv.crdownload` to `*.mkv`, and since the former file is already opened in the media player, it fails to do so. So it assumes something went wrong with the download -> deletes the whole file permanently which sometimes could be very large ;_; and

Downloaded files disappear


When you download a file through any browser, there's an option somewhere to 'Open Containing Folder.'

In Windows, to find a file you have downloaded...

1. Open your personal folder by clicking the Start button and then clicking your user name at the top of the Start menu's right pane.
   
2. Double-click one of the following folders:
   
   • Downloads
     
   • Documents
     
   • Pictures
     
   • Videos
     
   • Music

If you do not see the file you are looking for, but know its file name, you can search for it by following these steps:
To search for a file you have downloaded...

1. Click the Start button
   
2. Type all or part of the file name into the Search box.
   The file you are looking for will appear in the list of results.

 

Downloaded files won't open after they finish downloading

I use Google Chrome as my default browser, when ever i download an image, file or anything, i click on "Open" to open the file, but it won't let me open the file. The only way i have access that file is by going to my download list, search the downloaded
file, open it from there and done. it takes a while to access the files that i download and don't want to continue doing those steps. is there a solution for it to be fixed? thank you.

 

Finding .IMG or .ISO file in Windows 8.1 Pro download

Hey guys,

In preparation for my new PC I downloaded Windows 8.1 Pro from Dreamspark, and I wanted to burn it to a DVD, so I can install it on the new PC.
However, in the downloaded files I can't find a .IMG or .ISO file anywhere. I understood that the .IMG file is the one you need to burn to the DVD?

Any suggestions?
