Windows 10: Browser highjacking virus and DNS Changer trojen

    Browser highjacking virus and DNS Changer trojen


    I have been infected with these viruses, i tried windows defender scan and rrmorem some malware.

    Then i tried avast free antivirus and removed more trojen.

    Then i tried Malwarebytes and removed even more virus files.

    But they keep coming back on further searches after i reboot my laptop.


    I suspect the virus and trojen came from tge application i installed called Format Factory as it intalled some bloarwblo alomg with it.

    I removed all those.


    These malware messes with my search results and redirects all my searches to other websites, pop ups and new tabs , all with ads.


    New edge is not affected, it affected chrome browser.


    Does the new window 10 2004 update have updates to solve this ?


    Can someone help me with this ?

    DNS HIGHJACKED by Utopia .net

    My network dns is titled utopia.net and from what I found online its a malicious way to get info I put into any site I visit.

    The Connection-Specific-DNS is under utopia.net

    Any fixes I've found online did not fix the issue and protect my data.

    I've run virus and malware software and nothing was found.

    How do I get rid of this hijack?

    Browser /connection security, hosts file and DNS service

    You're saying that Open DNS(and other services like it) house their own list of known 'bad' sites, and by using their DNS servers, it will filter out sites based on that list?

    Would you believe I was already using Open DNS servers.
    This means the hosts file is moot?

    And furthering that, if there's any bespoke sites I want to manually add, I could do it through my router directly.

    Thus I can empty my local hosts file and turn my DNS service back on?
